On Sunday (1 October 2023), Tesla launched an updated version of the Tesla Model Y in China with minor changes to the exterior and interior. Itβs not as extensive as the Model 3 Highland which was announced for Malaysia last month.
Indeed, the only changes seen on the updated Chinese-spec Model Y are redesigned black-painted 19-inch Gemini wheels for the base rear-wheel drive (RWD) and Long Range all-wheel drive (AWD) variants.
Minor improvements added to the updated Model Y in China include a more efficient heat pump system and interior ambient lighting.
Prices for the three variants offered for the China-spec Model Y remain unchanged:
Model Y RWD - RMB 263,900 (~RM 173k)
Model Y Long Range AWD β RMB 299,900 (~RM 196k)
Model Y Performance AWD β RMB 349,900 (~RM 229k)
As before, the updated Model Y is available with an Enhanced Autopilot as an option which includes Auto Lane Change, Autopark, Summon, Smart Summon, and Navigate on Autopilot from RMB 32,000 (~RM 21k) while Full Self-driving Capability costs RMB 64,000 (~RM 42k).
In Malaysia, the Model Y is fully imported from China and is offered with 3 variants as well with prices starting from RM 199,000. For more thoughts on the Model Y, check out our review below.
