Just last week, Transport Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong announced that the Ministry of Transport’s request to include workers in the transportation sector as frontliners in the vaccination programme was accepted by the National Immunisation Programme.
This encompasses at least 107,000 employees in various parts of the transportation sector including sailors, pilots, and of course Prasarana staff members in the rail and bus lines.

Khairy added that e-hailing drivers and delivery riders will be next to be added to the list.
E-hailing drivers and delivery riders can expect to receive their vaccination appointments starting July. Those that fall in the category will include workers from Grab, Foodpanda, and all courier services.

He and Dr Wee Ka Siong will be launching the vaccination programme for the transport sector starting with the port and cargo operators on Friday (25-June).
Khairy further added that the ministry has received a lot of applications for different sectors to be considered frontliners, but due to supply constraints, they have to take things one step at a time.
Hence the first target the ministry has set its aim on is the transportation sector.
