The latest 8th-generation 2021 Hyundai Sonata 2.5 aspires to capture buyers who are looking at the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry.

Being a fully imported (CBU) model, the Sonata loses out on the price factor with a hefty price tag of RM 206,888 (OTR without insurance & SST).

No powerful turbocharged engine nor ADAS in this all-new Sonata but there are some interesting features that may appeal to buyers.

As mentioned in the video, the Sonata is going to sell for its novelty. Quirky features like the LED daytime running light strip, adjustable centre wheel caps, push-button style electric gear selector, Blindspot View Monitoring and full LED interior lights may appeal to some.

But that is not all that the Sonata has to shout about. The 2.5-litre SmartStream naturally aspirated four-cylinder MPI petrol engine with 180 PS and 232 Nm is faster (to 100 km/h) and more fuel-efficient than the Camry’s 2.5-litre AAR-FE engine. Cruising at speeds, the Sonata has a quieter cabin than the Accord.
