Honda StepWgn

The Honda StepWgn is an MPV that competes with the likes of Toyota Voxy and Nissan Serena. Unlike its 7-seater counterparts, the StepWgn offers both 7- and 8-seater configurations. Notable for its "Wakuwaku Gate," or dual-opening tailgate, which maximizes convenience and practicality.

With prices approximately hovering around RM 150k at time of writing, it's an interesting alternative featuring Honda's turbocharged 1.5-litre VTEC Turbo engine, making 150 PS and 203 Nm of torque.

Lexus IS

The Lexus IS underwent a major facelift in 2020, yet it hasn't graced the Malaysian market officially since its update in 2017, which was subsequently discontinued unfavourable tax structure. Even recon models like the one listed here command around RM 300k.

Powertrain comes in the form of a 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine generating 244 PS and 350 Nm of torque, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

Mercedes-Benz CLA (2nd gen)

While the AMG variant, CLA 45 S, is available in Malaysia, the standard models of the second-generation Mercedes-Benz CLA are not officially offered.

However, those who are a fan of its sleek looks can still acquire the CLA 180 via parallel imports, priced at a more accessible range of RM 230k. Power comes from a 1.3-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 136 PS and 200 Nm of torque, coupled with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Nissan Fairlady Z

The GR Supra becoming too common lately? Consider the Nissan Z, known as the Fairlady Z in Japan. Though unlikely to be officially introduced by Edaran Tan Chong Motors (ETCM), recon units have surfaced in the market, with prices around RM 400k.

The 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 engine in the Z makes 406 PS and 475 Nm, paired to either a 9-speed automatic or a 6-speed manual transmission that sends power to the rear wheels, as the gods intended.

Toyota Crown Crossover

For the current 16th-gen Crown, Toyota expanded its line-up to offer a total of 4 body styles which are the Sedan, Crossover, Sport SUV, and Estate SUV.

The version that’s already landed in Malaysia (unofficially, of course) is the Crossover. In Japan, two hybrid powertrains are offered a 2.5-litre A25A-FXS powerplant that makes a combined output of 234 PS and a turbocharged 2.4-litre T24A-FTS that produces a combined output of 349 PS. Based on the listing, it seems that the latter is equipped.
