There are many answers explaining how and why apple products are so good. I would like to add my PIE to the answer. *DISCLAIMER* This answer may not be structured properly and has a bit of broken English but I'm sure the journey to the end of my answer can give you lot of insight as I got. I'm trying to put down as many thoughts in my mind as possible right away so the answer my be lengthy but I promise it would be worth it. So bear with me and my English. I'm not a apple fan boy either. I use Android because AUKAD bhai STEVE JOBS LEGACY Since the start of the company, Jobs made sure that the products are User-friendly Unique from competition Has the tiniest details perfected in everyway you possibly could imagine He learned that during his childhood where his father was a mechanist and has always tried to perfect everything in his craftsmanship. Even though he was never into what his father's profession he always went with him and observed his obsession towards perfection. He was rude and also extremely friendly and was good at marketing his products to the masses in a very life like manner. There is a lot to mention about him but let's just move on as of now. APPLE PRODUCTS AND THEIR UNIQUENESS I don't wanna go to raw facts as mentioned in every other answer but would like to jump directly to a real world example of my cousin's iPhone 5s Right after our 12th this super expensive and innovative iphone was launched and everyone wanted it and my cousin was using a Samsung Corby so he wanted to upgrade to that. He convinced his parents that he wouldn't buy a new phone for 4yrs or soif they buy him this iPhone 5s and he bought it right at the time of its launch in india for a price of Rs53500 . I just didn't understand why he got the iPhone 5s where he already had a iPod touch 5th gen with him. To my eye it was the same device with no phone and maybe slow specs but it was the same and he used to carry the iPod anyway. I used to think instead he should have got a Galaxy s4 or s5 or htc m8. I asked him and he said I just wanted a iPhone because it's realiable he said. I thought meh any phone is the same. 4yrs down the road he dropped the phone several times in every possible way i.e water, sand, rock it survived. The battery degraded after 3yr yet he managed with a power bank till the launch of the iPhone X. Yes, he is a power user. He uses for music, games and lots and lots of Snapchat. Never was the day the iPhone 5s felt slow. In the mean time I changed 4 phones because they got slow. Later he was gifted with a iPhone X by his sister because he really took care of the beloved 5s I took a peak of the phone for a while after he upgraded. These are the points I observed The software was always up-to-date and in the next week the phone will be getting ios12 that's straight up 5yrs of support and still the device runs good enough. Comparing that to the every Android device back in the day. They were not updated, they became significantly slow, the hardware if used the same way might have a lot of issues Yes, there are Android phones too and custom ROMs are available but they are just not as USER FREINDLY. It's not all good news though devices like iPhone 4s and iPad mini are bottlenecked with the updated software but hey they did make it work one way or the other. But you get my point they try to deliver the best after sale support. There are many examples like those hard to makewallpapers, icon animations gestures to go back Hold to magnify the cursor all these tiny details which are just so subtle yet, functional stuff you don't notice but make a huge impact on how the device functions and feels to the end user. You don't find in the other phones design. Services like iMessage FaceTime iTunes iCloud Continuim(I use it with iPhone and iPad to take calls when I'm charging the phone and works flawlessly but my aukaad kicked in when I broke the iPhone. ANYWAYYY) These really set a fence around the users both in a good way and a bad way. Let's talk the good first- it keeps you engaged in the so called ,ECOSYSTEM, and makes it easy to get things done using multiple apple products as they all work seamlessly like no other products have achieved. This is mostly overlooked but it's a really useful gimmick these apple products have. And the bad part- it sucks when you quit from that whole apple thing and have to change everything you used to do with all the apple products and change to new services provieded my non apple products. It's doable though. Coming to other products like the iPod As per the history these were the best selling walkmans of the late 2000’s. Yes no one wanted to CD player on their belt or bag to listen to music. iPod changed the way we listened to music. It looks like I copied it right. Yeah I did. Oh. Come on you guys know what iPod its the coolest thing to have in the 2005–2011 times I don't have to tell anything about. Everyone knows if you had a iPod touch 32gb your the coolest kid in the whole campus for God sake. MOVIING ON Ipad- dude they are the best tablet you can get. Period. They have a monopoly in the tablet market . No Android tablet is comparable to the app support and the iPads performance Coming the Mac lineup These also tend to have a lot of hype but I would consider Mac to be a mixed bag. Ive never used one nor have a better understanding of it's lifecycle and applicability to mass market other than graphic designers due to it's basic attributes like Ultrabook design, being durable, better battery life and not forgetting the stable OS. I would skip this here as I'm not aware more than that and it but let's discuss something interesting and my favorite part of the whole universe knows as ,APPLE MARKETING- Reality distorn field baby! Don't Google it, you'll just get a picture of Steve jobs first and then the explanation. I shall explain it don't worry. RDF basically means that you as person can distort the reality around you to suit your needs by convincing people by unsuspecting gestures, psychological hacks or straight up lying just to get them to believe you. In other words you literally make your imagination come true by doing what ever it takes. And Steve Jobs was a master at this and that's how he became what he is today! It's not all good or bad. He just did what he has to do produce product to market to the masses and appeal to every generation. Let's not talk about any other product but straight up iPhone because these are the most known apple products all over the world. Marketing of iPhones is just phenomenal in my opinion. Right from the ads( which are sometimes too good or stupid yet serve the purpose) to billboards the way the apple iPhone is portrayed is remarkable. I would like to give an insight to these ads. Most of the time these ads tend to give the end user a feeling that the product are really a label of luxury. Try watching every ad with a different perspective after reading this. These ads tend to show off the niche features similar to other mobiles as well but they make it personal. Personal in such a way that it is no more a product you buy and use everyday but more like a emotional thing which you can use with a pride . Most ads try doing this but it becomes less obvious when the device is not as famous as it is out side of ads. Let me give you an example. Most celebrities around the world either in the TV or in reality tend to use an iPhone. So indirectly it is marketed there as well and it's free. That combined with well narrated ads really makes you feel the iPhone is more than just a phone you buy every year. Even the unboxing experience of the products are top notch. There would be no corner cuttings. In every step of the way the product they produce appeals as a luxury device to any person. Combined with a top notch performance and world's famous camera being the iPhone itself really fills the cup of joy to every user out there. This kind of marketing is seen in other industries like automotives and ciggartes(early 80s not now though) but you don't buy a car every year you buy a phone. So they tend it make it more obvious. Even the ,keynote, they do every year really helps the brand name to be popular throughout the world before and after the keynote. Basically the brand name never fades away(not right now at least). The key point if this keynote is ,HYPE Hype is what gets the whole world talking about the brand, social media isalways flooding with leaks, renders, expectations and what not. And when the keynote is presented, they never(at least since the iPhone times) compare to the other products but only create a imaginary ,BUBBLE ,to every one watching it making them forget the whole world and only see their products. You can see this Everytime . Phil always walks up to stage and says, THIS IS THE MOST REVOLUTIONARY IPHONE EVER ,or ,THE MOST ADVANCED IPHONE EVER. ,They say this every year even though they don't do it first they tend boast off to do it the best. NOW THATS WHAT I CALL ,REALITY DISTORTION FIELD. ,because at the moment if the time even though they show off they are the best even when we know they are not we generate the hype, we generate the buzz word, we do the publicity. In the end the company benifits. But to my observation what ever apple does they do it the best. They don't go out right with a half baked product(sometimes they did but mostly not) and really innovate the market for us. These are some of the trends I've seen apple set as a benchmark to every other screen . Powerful operating system and wider support of apps( later Android became the better one) Show off the 3.5inch display and name it the retina display(competitors followed up but took time to meet the good quality the iPhone 4 provided back in the day) TouchId was not even a thing till 5s and later every other brand included it in the package When the iPhone 6 was launched it had 6 and 6 plus( same time Galaxy s6 and s6 edge were launched both were same size. Just few months later they released s6edgeplus to compete with the iPhone 6 and 6plus. Later they corrected by launching s7 and 7 edge being taller) Faceid was a thing before the iPhone X( Samsung had Iris scanning. It was no way close to face I'd. Even Android has face unlock since Android 5.0. one year after the iPhone X release the chepaeast redmi 6 has face unlock) Everyome hates the notch of iPhone X still every other company like every other company does the notch. ( Essential ph1 had a notch but no one copied Essential ph1. They only copied apple) Gesture control exists in iPhone X as main user interface navigator( Android pie has half backed gesture control similar to iOS but has less appealing look And was developed right after its launch in iOS . Other brankds like xiaomi, Motorola use gestures in Android 8 just to give that feeling of iPhone X which they are no where close) This is why I like apple products and even though they price it like crazy. I think the phones they sell have that appeal, performance, reliability and the never fading brand loyalty. Yes, one plus and pocophone are better. But it's like comparing a custom tuned Honda Civic with 500hp to a BMW m5 stock. They perform same. The Civic is cheaper and better but what WYSIWYG is what apple does. And they do it unlike any other company. But $1490 for excessmax is too excessively maxed out price apple . I'll stick to my AUKAAAD as of now. Cheers.
BMW knows they’re behind brands like Tesla in the EV game, and they’re afraid. They want to appeal to young people (who happen to be most of Tesla’s customers), so they act all fly and progressive by their extremely aggressive and disastrous PR strategy (calling all the people who criticise the disgusting iX “boomers”, making fun of the old 7 series, using the coronavirus to promote their i-brand cars). This doesn’t help the fact that most of the current BMW customers are actual “boomers”. Continuing on their PR department, being a car brand that has made many cars before that appeal to enthusiasts, the PR people must know about their cars, and unfortunately that doesn't seem to be the case with the US division, as they’ve put the sound of a Lamborghini V10 engine over footage of their M2 CS. Their designs are also another big issue. Adrian van Hooydonk being completely blind and a bell end is a completely plausible explanation, but the main reason is the Chinese. The Chinese are some of the most tasteless people on Earth, and they are also some of the biggest customers of BMWs (especially in the 7 series). They like massive and bling stuff. To lick the sweet dew off China’s sweatcrack, they enlarge the grilles to horrific proportions, turning the kidney grilles into tumor grilles, then flip the bird towards all their other customers. The enthusiasts have supported BMW back when the Chinese weren’t allowed to buy a car and could only have an ox. This just makes BMW seem like a bunch of ingrates. Lastly, they seem to be confused with how their performance cars should be. Audi has made a massive leap with their new RS6, Mercedes has made the excellent AMG GT63S and the AMG GT black series. BMW? The M8 competition that seems to be confused whether it wants to be a GT car or a full blooded sports car like the 911, and ends up being neither. Too harsh to be a long distance cruiser, too fat to be a sports car. Same with the X4M and X6M. Very fast and loud, but not fun and rides like a space hopper. Granted, they made the M2 CS and are making the M3 touring (at long last), but the other performance cars they make have lost their charm.
