Due to the global pandemic that is going on, PT Toyota Astra Indonesia has given the world debut of the new 2021 Toyota Innova facelift via a live stream on Toyota Indonesia’s YouTube channel.
The new Innova is sold as both the Kijang Innova and the sporty-looking Venturer in Indonesia. The Kijang Innova sports a trapezoidal chrome grille while the Venturer sports a piano black grille.
Also different are the wheels as the Kijang Innova sports two-toned 16-inch alloys while the Venturer gets larger 17-inch alloys.
Round the back, the new Kijang Innova V, V Luxury, and Venturer get a hexagonal black-painted rear license plate garnish and a brand-new sleek roof spoiler for the Venturer. Apart from these two, the rear remains the same as the pre-facelift Innova.
Inside, the new Kijang Innova Luxury variants and Venturer come with captain seats in the middle row as standard. Malaysians would notice that this feature is already offered in the Innova 2.0X variant. These variants also come with an integrated air purifier to improve the cabin air quality.
The powertrains of the new Innova facelift remain the same with the Indonesian-spec Kijang Innova and Venturer available with either a 2.0-litre petrol-powered 4-cylinder (139 PS/183 Nm) or a 2.4-litre common rail diesel engine (149 PS/360 Nm) across 16 variants.
What about Malaysia?
The second-gen Innova was launched here in 2016 and is locally-assembled at UMW Toyota Motor’s factory in Shah Alam. Suffice to say, the new Innova might make its way into Malaysia in 2021 but has this whole new style shake off its perception as a poor man’s Alphard?
