People have different driving styles and they generally change the gear when they reach the max speed at that particular gear. However, to the best my knowledge, the best practise is that when you have reached the threshold speed, try and get the RPM below or at least 2k and then change gear. This goes same with reducing the gear. This way you avoid the jerk and when lowering the gear, your RPM does not shoot up. Few points: We all know changing gears frequently reduceses fuel efficiency. So, when you drive in a crowded place and slow, instead of looking at speed, you mainitain RPM, you will get better milage. At bumper to bumper traffic, general chaos is when you pick up at 1st gear and stop and then repeat. Instead, try maintaining lane. Let the vehicle in front go far - a little and then you only relase clucth initially and accelerate later so that you cover longer distance. You save fuel. Anyways, you are not gaining on time. Driving on a highway, zipping around 160kmph and you are not at all bothered about fuel, clutch plate, gear box(obviously the last two are in the long run), this advise is not for you. But, if you drive on a highway keeping RPM about 2k and speed about 80–100 Kmph, you get the best milage for your vehicle. Whenever, you find a free road, go zoom!!!! The more you drive like this; the more your vehicle (and it’s parts) lives will be. The above display is of Volkswagen Polo. Did you ever think Polo can reach this milage??? Yes! That powerful beast does give you good milage, it just depends on how you drive. So, for me it is not the game of speed but the RPM. Drive safe! Picture credits: Volkswagen Polo Club
We have one Polo and a Ciaz at home. We can’t compare Ciaz with Polo in terms of driving comfort or quality. Polo is miles ahead. Recently both the cars met with accidents, one three wheeler auto banged behind our Ciaz and a four wheeler Tata Iris hit behind the Polo. Ciaz got the maximum damage and nothing happened to the auto other than a small bend on the front mud guard. As it was a new car we claimed and replaced the back bumper, boot, lights and camera. for the Polo we purchased the boot, glass and lights from local market and fixed as it was 5 years old and insurance won’t cover full. Almost all body parts, spare parts and lights etc of Polo are available in local market. So maintenance is not a concern
It has sufficient ground clearance. In fact, because of that it stays well grounded on the road even on high speeds. You just need to be careful on big speed bumpers (if the car is full).
Okay , I can understand the curiosity behind this question :) AMT Vs CVT Vs DSG: ,Automatic transmission cars are becoming more common than manuals in the current Indian market. With the increase in city traffic and the decrease in driving interest, a majority of Indian road users prefer just two pedals rather than three. Of course, automatic cars are surely the convenient option in bumper-to-bumper traffic and for those who are not particularly good at driving. That said, here's a comparison between AMT, CVT and DSG! What is the meaning? AMT, - Automatic Manual Gearbox, the abbreviation says it all, a manual gearbox is automated with a simple use of technology. The AMT is a clutchless gearbox and the transmission box takes care of the use of a clutch and removes the hassle of using clutch helps especially when in traffic. CVT, - Continuously Variable Transmission, this type of gearbox is technologically advanced and uses a single gear speed for acceleration, here too, it's a clutchless system of driving. DSG, - Direct Shift Gearbox, this type of gearbox is again advanced comparative to the above two gearboxes. This gearbox is a dual-clutch transmission; although it does not have a clutch pedal for you to use. It will pre-select the next gear and keeps it running for the gear shift and is much faster when it comes to shifting from one gear to the next. Which is more reliable? The reliability of the three gearboxes are directly related to the wear and tear, the AMT still uses the clutch mechanism and the CVT does not use a clutch at all, as for the DSG, it requires a dual clutch to engage a gear. CVT is the most probable gearbox for the reliability when it comes to daily commuting purpose, which will include traffic and a lot of 'stop and go' driving condition. This type of gearbox uses a single speed transmission, you might find this high revving & accelerating, however, there is not much of friction with several gears shifting. The AMT gearbox is reliable too, it is as good as a manual gearbox of a particular model, it removes the hassle of manual use of the clutch through a pedal. The most important aspect of an AMT is that it is cost effective and you can experience an automatic gearbox in your first car. CVT Cars,: Honda City,Honda new amaze,Nissan Micra,Maruthi baleno, Toyota Corolla altis. AMT Cars,: Maruti Suzuki Alto K10, Celerio, Swift DZire, WagonR, Tata Nano GenX, Ritz, Mahindra TUV300 As for the DSG, it is reliable when it comes to sports cars, DSG cannot be compared to the AMT or CVT, as the performance of the DSG is way too advanced compared to the other two gearboxes. DSG Cars,: Volkswagen Polo, Vento, Jetta, Skoda Octavia, and Skoda Superb Hope this clarifies everything I guess :) Choose wisely!
You can look at the bumper If there are no fog lamps, its a Trendline variant (the Base variant) If there are are fog lamps but no chrome strip around them, its a Comfortline variant (the middle variant) If there are fog lamps and also a chrome strip, its a Highline variant (the highest variant) Also only the Highline and GT variants have alloy wheels, lower variants have steel wheels with wheel covers The GT versions also have GT written on the grille The GT TSi has GT TSi written on the C Pillar but the GT TDi doesn't Coming to the recently launched GTi, it has an all new grille, bumpers ,wheels and also a diffuser along with twin exhausts and a new spoiler It also has a three door layout instead of five Hope it cleared your doubts Happy Motoring!!!! An Automatic would be best suited. There are a lot of Auto boxes available in the market. You can test drive a few like Honda Jazz, Hyundai i20, Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Volkswagen Polo. Good Luck!
Tata Nexon is better in my opinion for following reasons, Newer car with 5 star NCAP safety compared to 10 year old Polo with only nose and bumpers changed in every facelift Decent interior quality, I agree Polo has better interior quality but it has started looking old now Better rear space and boot space Good ground clearance must for out road conditions Cost of spares and maintenance is low compared to the Polo Good fan following and good overall track record Good AMC packages and extended warranties will get you covered
