There is no GDP because the pricing does not make sense. A t shirt costs $5000-$30000 and a 2 car garage costs $22000. There is a house in Blane country that costs $27000 with a 2 car lock up garage. Where in the world does a house cost the same price as a nice t shirt? These are not seen with gold tread (although there is one for $50000) they are just t shirts that are in Avery clothing store in the game. Some items actually cost less in the game than they do in real life in USD for example a can of Coke is about $1.50 in a convince store in the USA yet a can of Ecola in GTA online is only $1 however a t-shirt in the USA is $5–$1500 for a t-shirt yet cost $5000-$30000. See how illogical it is? The best super yacht costs $8,000,000 and to replace all the metal parts with gold costs $500,000. A yacht if this size is worth far more than 8.5 million dollars you are looking at around 300 million. The private jets cost called the Luxor costs 1.65 million and is caused on the Cessna, ,CitationJet/M2 which is worth 4.7 million dollars. It costs $500 to have it placed anywhere in the map. I challenge you to get a private plane moved to an airport if your choosing for $500 total cost. Remember the cheapest T shirt costs $5000. There is no comparable market. Why is a Toyota Corolla more reliable than a Volkswagen Jetta?
I’ve a friend who is a long time VW fanatic. He has in more recent years owned both Golfs and Passat. I was constantly being called on to repair these things, while I simply didn’t have to work on my Corolla which had covered mega more miles. Here is what I found. His VW’s were beautifully appointed inside whereas the Corolla was pretty basic. However VW engineering was absolute rubbish by comparison, and I’m talking braking and suspension systems, gear linkages, exhaust systems. timing belts, and electrics which were the main things always going wrong. And severe rust in the Golf also the one his wife owned. Recently he disposed of his Golf along with 50 years of accumulated parts. His friends, all the local mechanics and service people, plus his car club contacts told him to buy a Corolla. I told him that if he ended up getting another VW I wasn’t going to work on it. Well, he turned up proud as punch in another VW Golf. It had been owned by a girl who had only driven it on the smooth roads of a big city. In the meantime I had passed on my Corolla (1976 model) to an acquaintance who was going to turn it into a serious speed machine and had acquired another Corolla. His new Golf and my Corolla were about the same age and had covered about the same distance. Whereas mine had been flooded over some indifferent roads it still feels, drives and performs like a new car. His Golf however is a pile of absolute junk and it turns out he paid around 5 times what he should have for it. The suspension had pretty well completely collapsed(shock absorbers gone also springs collapsed except for the right hand rear). The alternator was on its way out. The rear brake rotors were past safe wear limits and the fronts were close thereto. While the clutch had recently been replaced there was evidence of clutch slip. The engine had that baked on layer of grease which is indicative of not too much life left. On take-off there was a big transmission clunk. There was some evidence of poorly repaired panel damage around the front. I’ve seen far better cars for a fifth the price and none of them, needless to say, were VW’as. But that’s not all. A friend has had three gearboxes in his Polo under warranty. Nearly all the staff members in my Son-in-law’s work unit had VW golfs and all of them had had a DSG gearbox replaced. A cub member had three gearbox replacements in his Golf.The club President had oil and water leaks in his Golf at 8,000k and the engine and gearbox replaced at 10,000k. He marched into the dealers and told them this was the first new car he had owned that wasn’t a Toyota, it was a pile of the proverbial, and what were they going to do about it. They were good - they gave him a fantastic deal on a new Golf. It was better, didn’t start leaking oil and water until 10,000k. The engine in this one blew up at 15,000 k. A girl down the road from me had incessant gearbox problems (not a DSG) in her VW transporter. She eventually sold it. Her husband had a heart attack and was rushed to Emergency in a VW ambulance. It broke down halfway. My brother in law bought a Toyota Prius at the same time his next door neighbour bought a Golf Diesel. They were going to compare them up to 100,000k. But one day the next door wife pulled up at the traffic lights in the Golf(40,000k up then) and it wouldn’t proceed when they turned green. Off the road for three weeks and they had to fly a new gearbox out from Germany for it. That was the end of the Golf and the comparison. The Prius duly completed the 100,000k without an ounce of trouble. My B in L’s friend had a new Passat. When he was considering the Prius he thought about the Passat and rang his friend up. That very morning the Passat, just three months old, had made its third trip back to the dealers on the back of a truck after just conking out in traffic. There are too many other stories but you will get the picture. The leading independent repairer of European vehicles in this city (gets a lot of flow-on warranty work the dealers can’t handle) advised have nothing to do with VW/Audi vehicles either new or second hand. I think that’s sound advice. More broadly, I’ve never found any independent repair specialist who has a good word to say about these vehicles. EDIT. I indicated many more stories and was going to leave it there but I must also tell you all this. A Good friend of mine bought a Vokswagen Eos for his wfe. Fully optioned over $60,000. On taking delivery he noticed on the way home the GPS navigation system was defunct. The agent couldn’t provide the latest programme but sent him an older one. On a disc overwritten with Texta. He wasn’t happy as he felt with a new car they should have provided the new programme, not an outdated one. The next morning his wife was taking the boys to sport and the air conditioner failed. Then one rear suspension strut failed, then the other. After a fortnight he asked the dealer what they would give him as a trade in. They said $29,000! Then the hood (roof) mechanism failed. The workshop mechanics (“our special factory trained mechanics will keep your car in tip-top condition”) told him they couldn’t fix the car. After 30 days he worked out it had been in the workshop most of the time. It had only covered. 600k in his hands by then. He fronted up to the boss. “Well, Mr X, we’re going to have this car first rate and wonderful for you” “but your mechanics said they couldn’t fix it”. “No, that’s wrong. It will be here for you to take and it will be perfect” “ well, you can do with it what you like but I’m not taking it” “You can’t do that” “yes I can and I am” Consternation. This was a multi-dealer organisation and as a business man he had a lot of dealings with them. Eventually, with him playing hard ball, they came to an arrangement on another vehicle, not a Volkswagen. Never again!
Do automakers have to update their models every year, even the current year lineup is hugely successful? How is the decision made in what goes into the updates each year?
They don’t have to update, but they play on the public’s want for ,new, new, new. ,Not everyone, but some people, want to have the latest thing all the time, and are willing to spend a lot of money to have the newest, latest model of car. They also want to to reach a wide target customer base; therefore a range of ages, personalities, bank balances etc. For example, with Volkswagen, (since I love these cars) the Up! has the Take Up! which is the basic model and the first on the scene, if you just want a simple box to get you from A to B this is the car for you, ‘keep-fit-windows’, basic radio and aux, basic heat and fan function, the main safety shebang…. it’s a car. It’s a cheap car for people who don’t want anything complicated. Next is the Move Up! which has a bit more equipment; electric windows, air con… ok, not too much more to it, but just things that make your life more comfortable. Probably for people who still just want a box, but a fancy box. Then comes the High Up! which includes some top notch spec as standard, heated seats, Bluetooth, a fancy infotainment screen (but still no touch screen), ESP… again not what you’d get in other VWs like the Polo, Golf, Tiguan etc. but a bit more than the other Up!s. For those who want a simple car but are happy to put forward a bit more dough for it. Then you have variations of the High Up! such as the Street Up! which has funky seats and sporty go-faster stripes. The Rock Up! which has a few more speakers, heated seats, and a body kit. The Club Up! a rare model with a blue tartan interior (kind of like the Golf GTE), heated seats, silvers mirrors, and alloys. The Groove Up! with a 300 watt sub-woofer and Fender sound system, interesting interior with piped seats and coloured stitching, and the usual High Up! specs. The Up! Beats which also has a 300 watt sub-woofer but with Beats By Dre sound system, quilted/suede/leather seats, a funky fascia, and updated infotainment system, it also includes a steering wheel based on the polo, and the Beats logo on the B-pillar. And in 2018 the Up! GTI was released. GTI red tartan interior, red stitching, spoiler, sideskirts, GTI badging, the usual Up! stuff, and the speakers pump out an engine sound when you rev it up. I don’t know if it’s obvious but one of the things I adore about the Up! is that it is such a simple car, there are sooooo many different ways to liven it up. The next model up is better purely because it now has stripes, or a spoiler, or a new sound system, or a new interior. Sometimes that is just enough for someone to buy the new model. These are all limited edition models too, most of these aren’t even made any more which makes them rare. The words ‘rare’ or ‘limited edition’ are enough to make people put their money on the spot. But I hope you can see how each one is an update or a variation of the one model. Another thing updates do are improve on previous designs. People have had the time to put in their feedback, garages feedback regular faults with the cars, and car makers create designs to overcome these problems. They may even add driver assist systems such as cruise control, auto main beam, emergency stop etc. due to public demand or good ideas coming forward at the design table.
What is the ideal speed for changing each gear in a Volkswagen Polo car?
People have different driving styles and they generally change the gear when they reach the max speed at that particular gear. However, to the best my knowledge, the best practise is that when you have reached the threshold speed, try and get the RPM below or at least 2k and then change gear. This goes same with reducing the gear. This way you avoid the jerk and when lowering the gear, your RPM does not shoot up. Few points: We all know changing gears frequently reduceses fuel efficiency. So, when you drive in a crowded place and slow, instead of looking at speed, you mainitain RPM, you will get better milage. At bumper to bumper traffic, general chaos is when you pick up at 1st gear and stop and then repeat. Instead, try maintaining lane. Let the vehicle in front go far - a little and then you only relase clucth initially and accelerate later so that you cover longer distance. You save fuel. Anyways, you are not gaining on time. Driving on a highway, zipping around 160kmph and you are not at all bothered about fuel, clutch plate, gear box(obviously the last two are in the long run), this advise is not for you. But, if you drive on a highway keeping RPM about 2k and speed about 80–100 Kmph, you get the best milage for your vehicle. Whenever, you find a free road, go zoom!!!!
