oh god. i found it. you weren't joking this Volvo ad is litterally the worst thing I've ever seen in my life the person who decided to use an acapella cover of a Diplo track for this ad should not continue to pursue advertising as a career any longer, IMHO https://t.co/cEHvUOLeol

Absolutely thrilled to announce that on Monday I will begin the next chapter of my career. I am joining the leadership team at Volvo Car UK as PR Lead. The very beginning and the end of my rallycross career. The Volvo 240 I built together with my brother and some friends back in the early 90's. Today I got to drive it for the first time in more than 20 years, and I had to wipe the dust off the old suit as well 😂 https://t.co/iGENCL4Hqf

volvo career Q&A Review

What are the best ten jobs in Sweden?

King/Queen - that must be awesome. All the glory of the kingdom. And if done like the current king you can go to strip clubs too. ,Sweden's king in strip club scandal Head of IKEA (while legally IKEA is now a Dutch/Swiss/Lichtenstein company for tax dodging reasons the actual running of the company still takes place in Sweden) -just imagine leading one of the largest companies in the world and not have to worry about the stock exchange or taxes and all that free furniture. The permanent secretary of the Swedish Academy - every year you get to announce the winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature and start a mad scramble among the assembled press to figure out who that author is. Notch - you get to invent Minecraft and have loads of money. If it gets uncomfortable you can just sell it to Microsoft. City surveyor of the city of Kiruna - one of the largest cities in the world, by size, 13,000 square m (5000 sq miles). Most of the city is being moved to expand the mine so excitement all around. Parent - 480 days of parental leave and kindergarten will never cost more than 5% of your income (and 5% is with three kids or more) The guy at Volvo Trucks that came up with the idea for the commercial where Van Damme straddles two trucks to demonstrate power steering. ,Volvo Trucks - The Epic Split feat. Van Damme (Live Test) Trash collection official - must feel good to have such good operations that you have to import trash from Norway and the UK to have enough to do. Member of the Swedish Academy of Science -you get to help select the winner of the Nobel prizes in Physics, Chemistry and Economics (although the economics prize is not a real Nobel as it is funded by the Swedish Riksbank and it can be argued how real a science Economics is anyway). Pizza baker - while not particularly well paid and with bad hours you get to be a key person in society, in particular in smaller villages. When the bank have closed, the post office is a forgotten memory, the local shop went bankrupt there is still your pizzeria and most likely another one to keep the competition and the society going.

What are some terrible things that celebrities have been accused of that have been just brushed over?

Matthew Broderick killed two people, but these days most people don't even seem to know that. Now, in fairness, it was an accident, but still pretty terrible. Broderick was vacationing in Northern Ireland with his then-girlfriend Jennifer Grey (his onscreen sister in ,Ferris Bueller's Day Off,) in the summer of 1987. On August 5th, while driving a rented BMW with Grey in the passenger seat, Broderick veered into the wrong lane and collided head-on with another vehicle, a Volvo. Both occupants of the Volvo, 30-year-old Anna Gallagher and her 63-year-old mother, Margaret Doherty, died instantly. Broderick suffered a fractured leg, broken ribs, concussion, and collapsed lung. Grey escaped with minor injuries. Broderick said he had no recollection of the crash, and no idea how he ended up in the wrong lane. The initial charge of causing death by dangerous driving, which would have carried a prison sentence of up to five years, was dropped, and Broderick was ultimately convicted of careless driving and fined $175, a verdict the victims' son and brother, Martin Doherty, called “a travesty of justice”. (Doherty later stated that he had forgiven Broderick.) Grey, for her part, was catapulted to stardom only weeks later with the release of ,Dirty, ,Dancing,, but later said that she felt such grief and survivor's guilt over the accident that she was unable to enjoy her success, even though she was not personally responsible. Broderick’s career continued uninterrupted, and people seemed to forget about the tragedy awfully quickly. Pretty crazy.

Do you suggest a Masters in Mechanical Machine Design at KTH Sweden or a Masters by Research at Tohoku Japan in Structural Mechanics?

I have no idea about the university in Japan but I can answer for KTH as I did my masters in structural mechanics in Sweden. KTH is one of the top universities for Mechanical Engineers in Sweden. They have a great curriculum which helps you go to the depths of simulation driven design. They also have some excellent professors who continuously interact with you at every stage of your course. At the end of your third semester, you will also have a chance to do your Master Thesis in collaboration with top automotive companies like Volvo Cars, Volvo Group, Scania, Saab etc. I did my master thesis at Volvo Cars and it has helped me tremendously in my career. If you are more into research, then KTH also has Phd positions. You will get excellent support from the university and the Swedish government to carry out your research projects. I cannot give you a comparison between the universities you mentioned. But if I was in your place and I had an admit to KTH, I wouldn't think twice in accepting it. All the best!

What do people in Germany think of Volvo?

I grew up in Germany, and have been a car enthusiast all my life. In Germany, Volvos lead a niche existence. They are respected and liked, but aren’t a major player. They are seen as the car of only a certain type of people - but we’ll get to that. Germany’s premium car persona landscape is (almost!) fully provided for already by Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Audi. Yet, that rivalry is purely on paper, because the place occupied by Volvo due to image is quite outside the area taken up by the other three. The target groups of the four named brands look a bit like this, in Germany: Mercedes-Benz: ,politically on the right, likelihood of university degree under 50%, association with taxi cabs, entrepreneurship. These are thought to be the typical cars of overweight sausage factory- or kebab stand owners. Of which Germany has lots. BMW: ,politically liberal to right, likelihood of university degree over 50%, association with sales, corporate careers. Owners are thought to be athletic, health conscious, sharp types. Germany’s outgoing and sexy people like BMW. Audi: ,politically left to far right, likelihood of university degree over 60%, association with education, finance, entrepreneurship. These cars span a wider range of imagined owners, from Greenpeace activists via high school rectors and kebab stand owners to neonazis. All levels of German society like Audi. Volvo: ,politically leftist-liberal, likelihood of university degree 100%, association with academia, family life, Nordic values. A Volvo will make you a professor, writer, or architect in the German public’s imagination. A person who is not really a player in the societal power game, but nice, intelligent, and responsible.

What is a male profession or career where men are often around beautiful girls?

BMTC Volvo conductor (500C or 500D route) ;-)

Which company is better for a career, Ford or Volvo?

VOLVO!VOLVO!VOLVO! I work for them, so maybe I am biased in my opinion. We are innovators in design, craftsmanship and technology. Ford, I feel is at a stand still. While Volvo are re-working their own brand and image. I work in South Africa, and every single day I walk into work I feel like I am part of something. Something bigger than vehicles, it’s about our focus on humanity and making people’s lives easier and safer. I hope this helps :)
