If it's a new vehicle the showroom may consider replacing under warranty, but if replaced only shock absorbers in anold vehicle, warranty by shock absorber manufacturer only for oil leak.
Two jokes that I pulled on car salesmen. I showed for a test drive of a new BMW with my motorcycle crash helmet, the salesman was not amused. Before taking delivery of a new Audi 5000S Avant I handed a salesman a checklist from a concours classic auto show with explicit details on what will be checked for cleanliness. He just shook his head when he got to the part about grease on the shock absorbers. This third one is not a joke I pulled but the salesman had no comeback. My mom bought a new 1978 Buick Regal off the dealer lot. The car had wire wheels and she did not want them. The dealer replaced them with the cheapo half hubcaps and left scratches on the wheels from the full size wires. I went back to the dealer with the car and had the salesman look at the wheels which I told him needed to be replaced under the warranty because they were scratched on delivery. After hemming and hawing, a service technician came out with full size hubcaps and my mom got free oil changes for one year.
Report both of them online via email to their Corporate office. Let me tell you a quick story that happened to me several years ago at a store whose motto was “we sell everything”. I bought and had them install 4 new shock absorbers on my vehicle. About 3 months later the rear shocks started leaking. I brought my car back to them and nicely explained my problem. They said we’ll check it out. I waited. The shop supervisor brought me a pad and said that the shocks were not covered because I needed front end work that would cost $2500.00. I grew up working on cars and tractors and worked in an auto shop after high school and before college. I asked to speak to the Manager. There were about 50 people in the store. The big ass intimidating Manager walked out of his office with the worst scowl on his face and an even worse bark and attitude. The calmer I was the more angry he became. He basically said either get the front end work done or leave the store. At this point all the Customers started enjoying seeing me pushed around by this ass. I calmly said out loud “I hope that you enjoyed entertaining these customers. I said too bad that they will not see you apologize and replace my “rear” shocks under warranty”. I went home very upset. I started calling my home insurance agent and told him I was cancelling the policy. I did the same thing with my retail account, 2nd mortgage, etc. At 5:30 pm I got a call from the ass Manager chuckling and apologizing saying to bring my car in and they would change the shocks. The next morning I walked in and they did the work. As I was leaving the Manager said to me “No hard feelings right?” I didn’t answer. He said are you going to restore your accounts with us right? I said no and my only regret the same Customers you performed for were not here to see you eat Crow! My last comment to him was this company will go bankrupt in the coming years - and they did! I never went back and on average a pissed off Customer tells their story about 20 times. The internet has changed all that. The Customer now has a lot of power.
The ONLY authorized dealer for BILSTEIN in India is Petes as far as I know. Petes will be pricier than grey market items of course, but you can buy with warranty and have peace of mind. When I was planning to change my shocks to Bilstein, I came to know only Petes is authorized (which is also listed on Bilstein website). I decided not to get Bilstein, but reviews about Bilstein from Petes is pretty good on Team BHP.
What year of this model are you referring to ? There are no service recalls on the rear suspension. There have been warranty issues on some of the more recent, ‘smart’ shock absorbers…. the older bikes do not have the option for rider control of the shock absorber, but recently the advances in electronics and management of vehicle dynamics has introduced a chain of failure points to the suspension on the GS model. They are not any more likely to fail than the average failure rate of motorcycle parts. Now, it is was a Ducati you were asking about ….. well …. that would be a different answer. The Multistrada had terrible issues in its first three model years.
With major modifications, it may be possible. But this would cease the warranty and would also be considered as illegal. The scooter may not perform well too. For a shock absorber like in bikes, you need to put in additional metals and clamps. So it is not recommended at all.

What is a front strut/shock absorber? A front strut, commonly called a MacPherson strut, is a suspension assembly that is integral to the front suspension and steering system of a vehicle. A loaded front strut assembly consists of two basic components, a coil spring and a shock absorber. The coil spring is in place to support the weight of the vehicle and to absorb large bumps. It allows the front suspension to travel up and down so that the vehicle body can remain stable. The shock absorber runs through the center of the spring and eases smaller bumps, dampens vibrations, and lends stability to the vehicle. What is a front strut/shock absorber? It allows the front suspension to travel up and down so that the vehicle body can remain stable. The shock absorber runs through the center of the spring and eases smaller bumps, dampens vibrations, and lends stability to the vehicle. How does the front strut/shock absorber work? The two components of a loaded front strut - the coil spring and the shock absorber - are mounted together in an assembly that is connected to the vehicle's steering knuckle. The steering knuckle is attached to the steering system by way of the tie rod so that the front wheels can be turned. The top of the strut assembly bolts to the vehicle body in the strut tower, where it is able to pivot when the steering wheel is turned. The bottom is connected (by way of the steering knuckle) to the lower control arm and wheel hub. The strut assembly allows the vehicle suspension to rotate while it absorbs impact from rough terrain, helps maintain contact between the tires and the ground, and offers a smoother ride for passengers What are the symptoms related to a bad front strut/shock absorber? Worn front struts result in diminished ride quality that might feel “soft,” as the vehicle leans excessively during turns, and bounces over bumps. The shock absorber in the strut may leak when it is worn. The strut may also cause a knocking or ,rattling sound, if it is worn, damaged, or broken. If the vehicle leans excessively in turns, and bounces up and down over bumps, the struts are likely worn. If the strut rattles or knocks over bumps, it may be broken. Can I drive with a front strut/shock absorber problem? A vehicle with worn front struts can be driven, but the ride quality will be diminished, and, more importantly, the vehicle's handling will be compromised. A car's ability to remain level while turning, with traction spread between all four wheels, is dependent on the struts. As the condition of the front struts worsens, the ability of the suspension to perform properly, especially in an emergency situation, also worsens. Loss of control and chance of vehicle rollover can be the result of severely worn struts. If a front strut is broken (rather than worn), the vehicle should not be driven until the strut can be replaced. How often do front strut/shock absorbers need to be replaced? There is no replacement schedule for front struts, through many vehicles will need to have them changed at some point. Rough driving habits may shorten the life of these parts. Struts may need to be replaced anywhere between 50k and 100k miles. If at any time the struts are leaking, broken, or damaged, they should be replaced immediately. Struts should always be replaced in pairs. 1-,https://www.1aauto.com/strut-and-spring-assembly-pair/i/1assp01569?f=1142710&utm_campaign=gb_csv_nobr&utm_content=SSP&gclid=Cj0KCQjw9LPYBRDSARIsAHL7J5mZotiHAl_Jcr4xkrIoYYtKbPzaI61kel9g_b8iz20_6dsMW74CsKMaAuuKEALw_wcB 2-,https://www.am-autoparts.com/Chevy/Cruze/shocks-and-struts/AM-4126920617/1142710.html?gclid=Cj0KCQjw9LPYBRDSARIsAHL7J5lI-lD2PN2sBkgbDTx65DDTour-Uy21ffwNJ6Ts5QRu7NfYrQGk-j4aAphgEALw_wcB 3-,Chevrolet Cruze Front Strut Replacement Cost Estimate
December 10th, 2002 - Yamaha Service in Kothrud Pune - 1st free service of my RX-Z 5 -speed at 5000 km or 4 months, whichever earlier. Mechanic: Did your bike fall recently? I: No, why do you ask? Mechanic: The front shock absorber casing seems bent., ,It might cost you around 1500 bucks to fix it. I: Oh, is it? But they seem to be working fine - no signs of jamming or even squeking. Why do you think they might be bent? Mechanic: The handlebar is not at same level from left grip to right. It can give you shoulder pain if you don't fix it. I: I can't really make out myself. But the damper casings are cast aluminium. And I would expect them to break than bend to such an extent as to make handlebar uneven. It is more likely a manufacturing defect. Let's claim a replacement under warranty. Mechanic: Err… ummm, it might be an oil leakage in one of the dampers that is making it uneven. I will get it checked. I: But there are no oil marks. The seals also look fine. It must be a crack somewhere which clearly is a manufacturing defect as I didn't even hit a pothole since I bought the bike. Let's raise a warranty claim. Mechanic (now trying frantically to disengage from the conversation): The ground might also be uneven here - I will check on a ramp and let you know. I: Ok, call me if you find anything. Mechanic never called. I got the bike delivered that evening with zero bill. It might not be the strangest, but since then, I make it a point to let the mechanics know I am from the automotive engineering division, if I feel they might try to scam me. Spares a lot of embarrassments and even helps establish good relationships with the mechanics. Question as answered… What is the strangest scam that a mechanic tried to pull over on you?
No, the car manufacturer only has to make parts available for the life of the warranty on the vehicle. Now, some manufacturers will keep parts available longer than that, but increasingly parts are not available after 10 years, and for some vehicles, for example some Fords, 5 years now seems to be the rule. Your best bet is to find a used part at an automotive dismantler’s shop. Oh, and you have the definition of ‘aftermarket’ confused. Aftermarket parts are NOT made by the car’s manufacturer, but by another company. Monroe, for example, is a manufacturer of ‘aftermarket’ shock absorbers for many vehicles.
Front shouldn't make any noise. Keep the bike on centre stand and press the front and rear shockers (via handle and on seat) to make out the sound. If there is a creaking sound from rear. its probably hardened springs. If its under warranty, get it replaced. Else you can fit Gas charged shockers from RE bikes. Front shockers seldon make noise as they have fork oil in them. See if there are oil flow marks below the oil seal (fat portion of front shocks.) If there, then replace the oil seals. If the sound is a thud while going over potholes. The shocker rods are bent probably. Next time you go to service station. Sit and personally see that the work gets done.
