Proton launches Certified Pre-Owned programme, used Proton car with warranty!

Interestingly, one growth seen through this whole coronavirus pandemic is the rise in used car sales. According to data by the Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA), used car sales grew by 100% in the first six months of 2020.

Seeing this, Proton decides to expand and improve its used car management (UCM) department to help streamline sales and distribution of used cars in support of new car sales.

Proton’s UCM division began in 2019 with 8 outlets located in various dealerships. In 2020, Proton aims to have 36 3S/4S outlets nationwide to also have UCM operations.

The target set for UCM is in replacement sales, where customers can trade-in their older Proton model for a new one through programmes like Proton Xchange. All used cars sold by UCM will be marketed under the Proton Certified Pre-Owned (PCPO) banner.

The cars will undergo a comprehensive 201-point inspection before it gets certified and will be covered under a 1-year extended warranty that covers the engine and transmission.

Brian Cheah, Head of UCM at Proton adds that in future a dedicated Proton used car portal will be set up where customers can sell online, view available stock, and get estimated evaluations for their cars.
