Another shot of the 2024 Proton X70 facelift has floated online courtesy of Facebook user Gan Bock Khim, this time showing us a clearer lok at the updated model's front end.
It all but confirms that the new X70 will have a front end that's inspired by the Geely Boyue Pro, but this picture also shows that it will adopt the new family grille that's on the X90. The only difference so far is that here it's all black; expect chrome enhancements to come on the production model.
Speaking of production – the updated X70's launch is not too far away now, given that manufacturing work of the older model has wound down since late last year. However, an official timeline has not been made clear at the time of writing.
An update to the X70 is almost urgent at this point, giving it a much-needed boost against upcoming rivals. For example, there's the all-new 2024 Honda CR-V that went on sale earlier this year, and don't forget the Chinese onslaught – things like the previewed Chery Tiggo 7 that's launching here later this year, and the Jaecoo J7, among others.
Meanwhile, it's almost certain that the new X70 will be powered by the 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbo engine that Proton produces at its Tanjung Malim engine plant. Updates to its interior is not set in stone just yet, but there's word on the grapevine the model could be the first Proton to introduce Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity.
To recap, the current (pre-facelift) X70 is priced in Malaysia as below:
