This just in – a facelifted Proton X70 might be in the works, as evident by this set of photos sent in by reader Greg Fernando to us moments ago.
Spotted around Subang, the car is all masked up in the areas that matter the most, the front end and on the rear fascia. This is telling of a visual update; however the stout front overhang, headlight shape, and lower bumper cutout looks a lot like the Geely Boyue Pro.

Same goes for the rear. The camouflaged bumper hints at a new look as well. Though to say that it will be the Boyue Pro is a bit far-fetched; with higher costs being the main reason.
As a refresher, the Boyue Pro is a higher-end version of the Boyue (think of it like the iPad vs iPad Pro), with added technological features and extra trimmings.
However, there's no official word yet on the breadth of upgrades at the point of publication. What's clear is that the X70 is an aging model, and as such is due for an update soon; factors of which have played a part in it losing the sales crown to the Toyota Corolla Cross.

At present, the Proton X70 can be had with two turbocharged engines, either a 1.8-litre four-cylinder mill, or a 1.5-litre three-cylinder one it shares with the X50. Prices are as follows:
