Next year's first launch? 2024 Proton X70 facelift imminent as production of current model slows down 01

Signs of the 2023 Proton X70 facelift launching in Malaysia are becoming more apparent, as latest manufacturing data by the Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) shows the current, pre-facelift model's production slowly dwindling to a halt.

Earlier this month we reported that the 1.8-litre variants have stopped production, and the 1.5-litre variants seem to be following suit – of which, each variant is only produced in two-digit figures for a cumulative 136 units made in November 2023.

It's not some kind of end-of-year pause as well, as this time last year, Proton assembled 1,616 units of the X70.

The X70 facelift is touted to look a lot like this Geely Boyue Pro

Not much is known about the 2024 Proton X70 facelift just yet, save for the fact that it's all but confirmed to run on the 1.5-litre three-cylinder engine that Proton produces in its Tanjung Malim engine plant.

A visual overhaul is on the cards too, evident in the few sightings of a camouflaged vehicle earlier this year.
