Toyota Harrier Alongside the Toyota Alphard/Vellfire, the Toyota Harrier is an immensely popular luxury SUV. The highest bid is, of course, for the number plate PPP1 which was rumoured to have been bought by badminton star Lee Chong Wei’s brother, Lee Chong Hoon, for RM 260,000. That’s the price of a Mazda MX-5! Or you can purchase 4 Perodua Myvis and still have change. PPP9 is the second most expensive

A recond Toyota Alphard/Vellfire is nearly RM 44k cheaper than UMW Toyota's official import, should you buy the recond?

There's no doubt that the Toyota Alphard (and its Vellfire twin) is the best luxury MPV on the market. Few other cars can match the Alphard/Vellfire's spaciousness and ease of entrace/exit. Compared to a Mercedes-Benz S-Class, the Alphard's sliding doors allow you to step in/out of the car as if it's a room, rather than a car. The only question left is whether to buy a cheap reconditioned (recond) unit or pay up for an officially-imported unit by UMW Toyota Motor? Let’s take a closer look at the

What cars do rally legends buy? A WRC rally car of course

Do you ever wonder, what kind of cars do racing legends contend themselves with? More often than not, you'd think that they will buy cars they used to race in. And you'd be correct. Take for example, one Nicky Grist who purchased a racer he had fond memories of, the Toyota Celica GT-Four ST185. No, not a replica, an actual car that participated in the World Rally Championship (WRC) in 1992. By now you'd be asking, Nicky who? What’s the most reliable car brand? What brand should your next car be? Depending on who you ask, you will get different answers, depending on how they choose to make their assessment. If you were to ask the Americans at Consumer Reports, the best brands to buy are Porsche, Genesis, Subaru, Mazda, and Lexus, in that order. Something is clearly not right when a brand like Porsche tops the list of a consumer-friendly buying guide so take this with a pinch of salt. But Consumer Reports is not wrong

Should you buy engine oils from hypermarkets?

One of the very prevalent questions I get all the time on car maintenance, is about engine oils. This isn't surprising, seeing that it is the one thing we cannot avoid changing after a fixed interval. Often times you'll see hypermarkets selling brands like Shell, Castrol or other branded engine oils for a far cheaper price than it usually retails. Engine oils sold at hypermarts are cheaper, but its authenticity is hard to verify. If it's the real deal, you save some money. If it's not, you will

Top-5 cars to buy for income earners of around RM 2,500 per month

Some say to find out your affordability of cars, simply take your gross annual income figure. If you’re earning RM 2,500 per month, your annual income would be RM 30,000, and that would be the car price you’re able to afford. However, we’d argue that it’s dependent on each individuals’ priorities and requirements. A bachelor with minimal commitments will be able to afford a little more, while individuals responsible for several family members will be rather tight on budget. So, we've set a price

Are you using the WRONG engine oil for your car?

With complete service packages offered when you buy a new car, you rarely need to make a choice when it comes to engine oils. Buy a brand-new Perodua Axia and Perodua will make sure the car uses the brand’s namesake oil during the warranty period. The same goes for other brands which may officially use Petronas or Shell lubricants at their service centres. Standardised number plates for Malaysian cars – 20 years later, still nothing to show

Earlier this week, the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development said that the Ministry of Transport will table a new bill to replace vehicle stickers for persons with disabilities with a special number plate.
