The name Rapide is from Lagonda Rapide, also a 5-door four seater saloon made by Lagonda which was discontinued in 1990. The Aston Martin Rapide is also inspired by the Aston Martin DB9. In 2013, the Aston Martin Rapide S succeeded the Aston Martin Rapide with the new AM11 V12 engine. The Aston Martin Rapide S’ rivals in the market are Porsche Panamera and the Audi A7 Sportback.
