While the Isuzu D-Max is crowned Thailand’s best-selling car/truck in September 2022, the market is still dominated by Toyota according to the latest sales data.
A total of 74,150 units were sold in Thailand in the ninth month of the year which is divided into 23,074 cars and 51,076 commercial vehicles. The latter includes pure pick-up trucks and PPV sales which consist of ladder-frame SUVs like the Toyota Fortuner, Isuzu MU-X, and Ford Everest.

In terms of brands, Toyota is the number one brand overall in September 2022 with 22,954 units sold. This translates to a 31% market share or 1 in 3 cars sold in that month.

Isuzu is not far behind with 21,598 units sold for that month and the Japanese diesel expert holds a 29.1% market share overall. In fact, 1 in 2 pick-up trucks sold in the Kingdom is a D-Max!

Meanwhile, in passenger car sales, Toyota stood on top with 7,382 units and holds a 32% market share. Honda is placed second with 5,961 cars sold while Mazda occupied the third position with 1,263 cars sold.
Japanese brands still hold the majority in Thailand’s passenger car market for September with 18,388 units sold that month or 79.7% market share.
For non-Japanese brands, MG sold the most in the Kingdom for that period with 1,297 units and this is followed by GWM with 450 units.

Up till the third quarter (Q3) of 2022, 638,687 vehicles were sold in Thailand, up 19.1% compared to last year. While there is growth in Thai vehicle sales so far, problems like the ongoing chip shortage remain an issue that could affect sales in the last quarter of 2022.
