Volvo Car Malaysia has introduced an update for the 2024 Volvo C40 Recharge Pure Electric. While it hasn't adopted the name EC40 just yet, the updated electric SUV gets a few enhancements, while pricing remains unchanged at RM 288,888.

One of the key improvement lies in the Volvo C40's battery capacity, which has been increased from 78 to 82 kWh. Despite the seemingly modest increment, coupled with more efficient cooling, this adjustment extends the range by 100 km, now up to 550 km (WLTP).

The upgraded battery now supports up to 200 kW of DC fast charging power, up from 150 kW, resulting in a similar charging time from 10 to 80 percent in just 28 minutes, despite the larger battery size.

Exterior wise, the C40 now boasts pixel LED projector headlights, replacing the previous reflectors, enabling an adaptive high beam function using multiple diodes. The new 19-inch alloy wheels are said to improve aerodynamics, and there’s a new addition of Vapour Grey to the exterior colour options.

The powertrain configuration has also undergone a revamp. Instead of two identical 204 PS motors at both the front and rear, Volvo has opted for a setup featuring a less potent 159 PS motor at the front and a 249 PS motor at the rear.

This change is expected to offer a more satisfying rear-biased feel, while the overall output remains at 408 PS.

The updated Volvo C40 Recharge Pure Electric also offers a suite of digital services, including access to Google Assistant, Google Maps, Google Play Store, and Volvo Cars app remote functions, complimentary for five years.

Customers can place bookings for the Volvo C40 Recharge Pure Electric online, with an instant rebate of RM 10,000 available for online orders until 31-March 2024.
