The BYD Yuan Up has been unveiled, marking the latest addition to BYD’s Yuan family. Positioned as the smallest SUV in the lineup, the Yuan Up is built on the e-Platform 3.0 architecture.

For those unfamiliar, BYD’s vehicle portfolio is divided into two series: Dynasty and Ocean. The Dynasty line, named after Chinese ruling families, encompasses five models: Han, Song, Qin, Tang, and Yuan. The Yuan series currently features two existing models, namely Yuan Pro and Yuan Plus (Atto 3).

Following BYD’s updated Dragon Face design language, the BYD Yuan Up showcases slim LED headlights, a full-width taillight unit, and a roof spoiler. Other design touches include blackened pillars, a spacious sunroof, flush door handles, claddings along the lower body, and five-spoke wheels.

In terms of dimensions, the BYD Yuan Up is a compact SUV measuring 4,310 mm long, 1,830 mm wide, 1,675 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2620 mm.

For reference, the BYD Atto 3 measures 4,455 mm, 1,875 mm, 1,615 mm, and 2,720 mm, in length, width, height, and wheelbase respectively.

Inside, there’s an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster and a rotating 12.8-inch infotainment display. There’s also power-adjustable driver and front passenger seats, wireless charging pad, and a crystal gear selector.

There will be an option for two electric motors generating 95 PS and 177 PS, and two lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery options from FinDreams, providing capacities of 32 kWh and 45.1 kWh. This translates to an estimated range of 301 km to 401 km, though the test cycle type was not disclosed.

While pricing details for the Chinese market are yet to be disclosed, local media reports suggest that customers can expect to pay around CNY 100,000 (around RM 66k) as dealers may need to invest between CNY 120,000 to CNY 130,000.

Typically, dealers acquire models at a slightly higher price during the initial stages, with the expectation of receiving a refund for the difference upon the official launch of the vehicle.
