Cars named and shamed for driving against traffic in China

In Malaysia, driving against traffic, or in more commonly known as “pandu lawan arus” as a term, has been growing rampant lately. Of course, this is not an isolated problem, as long as there are cars in a country there will be similar occurrence.

But, in China, cases like this are dealt with in a very unusual way, observe this page that names and shames (complete with number plates clearly on show) the cars caught driving against traffic on the powerful CCTVs of China.

According to the website header, the photos were exposed by the Fujian police themselves and serves as a warning to all on the consequences of driving against traffic.

We’re sure that many have yet to forget the highspeed chase along LDP near Sunway that happened earlier this year. Nor the most recent case of a Perodua Kelisa driven by a senior citizen on LKSA.

These images are captured on China's AI-driven traffic monitoring cameras that are widely used in China to capture traffic wrong-doers. The cameras also have automatic number plate recognition capability.

While these cameras would be a huge help in apprehending criminals, they only work if the country enforces standardised number plate system, which is not enforced in Malaysia. Do you think Malaysia should have a system like this?
