![DBKL: Killer pothole stretch patched 9 times in 4 months 01]()
There might be an underlying issue along the stretch of road that killed a 75-year-old motorcyclist on Sunday morning as the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has revealed that the stretch of road has been patched up 9 times in the past 4 months.
According to a statement made by DBKL, the last time Jalan Tengah was resurfaced was on 26 December 2020 and that maintenance work has been ongoing since September 2020.
DBKL also said that the location is under constant monitoring by the council’s Public Service Delivery Transformation (PSDT). But since damages kept recurring on the same stretch, DBKL has decided to appoint the Public Works Institute Malaysia (Ikram) to find out the reason for this.

In the incident on Sunday, the victim, Ho Yan Yee, was reportedly on his way to Mid Valley from Taman Connaught when his motorcycle went over the waterlogged cavity. Ho lost control of his bike and was thrown at least 30 m away. He died at the scene of the accident.
According to News Straits Times (NST), sources have told them that there was a water source running beneath the road. The source also said that investigations have also been done to check whether the adjacent slope was responsible for Sunday’s incident.
Meanwhile, DBKL promises that it was always checking and addressing potholes by conducting immediate patch-ups. They also encourage the public to lodge complaints on potholes so repair work can be carried out faster.
