Honda Malaysia has reiterated that it is confident of delivering all vehicle orders made during Penjana zero-SST period which has a vehicle registration cut-off date ending 31-March 2023.
At a recent media event, Executive Coordinator Mr Yujiro Sugino reiterated that whilst the company is still grappling with supply chain issues caused by semiconductor chip shortages, Honda Malaysia doing its best to fulfil all the bookings and ensure timely delivery of new models.
Sugino said, “As for the chip shortage we are still facing issues. We actually want to have more but we are restricted. For this year, we still foresee issues securing these parts,”
However, with regards to outstanding orders, he added, “As we approach the end of the SST-exemption registration (period), we are maximising our deliveries to fulfil orders as much as possible and reducing the waiting period,”
When asked if Honda Malaysia will be able to deliver the outstanding order within the stipulated deadline set by the government, VP of Sales & Dealer Development, Ms Sunita Prabhakaran said, “Yes, we are quite confident in fulfilling all backorders by end-March as the SST-exemption period ends,”
Despite prevailing supply chain shortages, Honda Malaysia still capped off a rather successful year in 2022, managing total sales 80,290 vehicles. Moving forward in 2023, Honda Malaysia targets total sales of 80,000 units, equating to 12.3 percent of Malaysia’s Total Industry Volume (TIV).
