At the ongoing Auto Shanghai 2023, Honda exhibited the world premiere of its latest electric vehicle (EV) models from the H-brand’s e:N Series. These consist of two prototypes, the e:NS2 Prototype and the e:NP2 Prototype as well as one concept SUV model, the e:N SUV 序 (Xu)
Currently, the e:N Series lineup consists of the Honda e:NS1 and the Honda e:NP1 which are both based on the current Honda HR-V. The HR-V EV models are currently exclusive to China with the e:NS1 built by Dongfeng Honda while the e:NP1 is built by GAC Honda.
The production models based on the e:NS2 and e:NP2 Prototypes are being developed as the second set of Honda e:N Series EV models with sales of the production models scheduled to begin in early 2024.
Very little information is revealed on the e:NS2/e:NP2 in terms of powertrains but according to Honda’s official press release, both coupe SUVs could offer “a unique driving pleasure that enables the driver to enjoy a sense of oneness with the vehicle” and “an interior space that conveys intelligence with advanced features such as Honda Connect 4.0”.
Meanwhile, the Honda e:N SUV 序 represents a “prologue”, which is what the Chinese word on the name means, of the new generation of EV models for the Honda e:N Series. The electric SUV will be the first model built on the e:N Architecture W developed exclusively for the e:N Series EV models and will offer the latest safety and driver assistance systems along with AI-powered Honda Connect technologies.
Honda is looking to enhance the e:N Series line-up in China and strives to make EVs represent 100% of its automobile sales in the world’s biggest car market by 2035. The Big H is also planning to introduce 10 EV models in the country by 2027.
