![MCO 3.0: Nationwide inter-district travel ban to take effect from 10 May 01]()
The National Security Council (MKN) has declared that all interstate and inter-district travels will not be allowed unless the traveller has police approval. The new rule will take effect from 10 May to 6 June 2021.
Senior Minister (Defence) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced on Saturday (8 May). The decision was made following the constantly high numbers of new positive cases per day in Malaysia.

In the same statement, Ismail Sabri also said that during the same period all social, educational, and economic activities that involve the gathering of people will be prohibited.
He notes that the government is always reviewing its standard operating procedures (SOP), hence they will be revisiting the decision in another 2 weeks depending on the situation.

Following the announcement, the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) released a statement confirming that those travelling inter-district or interstate for work do not require police approval.
All they need is a MITI letter and an authorisation letter from their employer or their work pass. The MITI letter does not need to be stamped by the police.
