This is the new 2024 Kia EV6 facelift, and beneath the sharp new looks lies a few important technological updates that pertinently brings more driving range.
First on the list of updates is the most obvious – Kia's new family face adorns the EV6. The triangular-motif headlights look are reminiscent of those found on the EV5 and soon-to-launch EV3, while new front- and rear bumpers complete the look.
Other subtle exterior changes include new wheels, a new central positioning light, as well as a bunch of fresh colours that appear on the battery electric vehicle for the first time.
Meanwhile, the EV6's interior also gets a fair few changes to its design elements to keep it fresh. The panoramic curved display's bezels are now are a little more squared off, and it looks to have software updates as well. New textures on the interior trim, an improved wireless charging pad that sticks to the phone better, and a fingerprint authentication system are all fresh additions too.
Tech upgrades see the expansion of the breadth of the EV6's over-the-air updates, a natural language processing voice control system and wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto.
Under the hood, Kia's put in the new 84 kWh fourth-generation battery (shared with the facelifted Hyundai Ioniq 5) to boost driving range, now up to 494 km. Previously, the EV6 came with a 77.4 kWh battery that gives a total range of 475 km.
Despite the heightened capacity, the time taken to charge it remains the same. Plugged in to a 350 kW DC fast charger, one can fill up the battery from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes.
Other than that, the EV6 improves on comfort by way of retuned suspension, optimised the motor's noise, and added more sound deadening materials by the rear motor.
Safety updates also see the EV6 getting thicker B-pillars, and adding side airbags for the rear-seat passengers.
Prices in Korea range from KRW 52.6 million (~RM 181k) for the base Light, to KRW 59.95 million (~RM 208k) for the top-spec GT-Line. Despite these updates, Kia has not raised prices from the pre-facelift variants.
Back home, we still have the pre-facelift AWD GT-Line. The sole variant is priced from RM 319,000.
