Pros Icon

Pros

  • Excellent Steering and Handling
The steering and handling are both quite good, well composed and sturdy. The vehicle exceeds expectations for handling and could take on any road surface or condition with ease and in control.

  • Comfortable Seating
The front seats are plush and well-bolstered for support. The bolsters on each side of the seat are designed in a way that is not invasive so that it can be easily slip in and out of the seats. The rear seats are slightly wide and flat and offer plenty of comfort as well.

  • Smooth Ride Quality
The ride quality is super smooth. It absorbs bumps in the road without any issue and remains calm going over loose gravel. There will be notice of some wind noise coming in at higher speeds, but the engine is almost inaudible.

Cons Icon

Cons

  • Rear Seats Can’t Fold Down
The rear seats do not fold down and limit the expanding of cargo space. Storing certain items must be a bit difficult prior having the least boot space in its segment.

  • Infotainment System Can Be Tricky to Use
Complicated menus put this system a step behind the pack and may not be fond of the system’s touchpad controller. Although a stunning 12.3-inch HD display is offered, don’t expect it to be any easier to operate.

The Lexus ES proprietary method was employed to increase the rigidity of the rear suspension and allows for superior steering stability and a more linear driving sensation even when performing high speed lance change. A new shape brake pedal with an expanded surface area to increase the contact area for the foot. The lateral rigidity of the pedal has also been enhanced to improve the sense of stability when braking.

While the suspension is supple and easily soaks up bumps from potholes without transferring the shocks to the passengers, it is still firm enough to keep body roll in check during fast cornering. Steering is also more precise and accurate with the electric steering motor being placed at the rack instead of the steering column in the previous generation ES.

Being non-turbo, power delivery is immediate and silky smooth with very little engine noise or exhaust roar intrusion into the cabin. Even at high speeds, the interior remains whisper quiet as good aerodynamics, acoustic glass and noise insulation materials work nicely to keep unwanted sounds muffled.
