![Price war with BYD: GWM Malaysia slashed RM 26k off 2024 GWM Ora Good Cat - now starting at RM 113.8k 01]()
GWM Malaysia has announced new prices for its Ora Good Cat. The entry 400 Pro variant now starts at RM 113,800, while the 500 Ultra variant is now priced from RM 143,800. Prices are excluding insurance and fees for vehicle registration, inspection and handling fees, endorsement, and number plate.
Previously, the two variants were priced from RM 139,800 and RM 169,800 respectively, excluding insurance and the miscellaneous charges mentioned above.
As before, the Ora Good Cat is covered by a 5-year / 150,000 km vehicle warranty, while the electric drivetrain (high voltage battery, motor, control unit) is covered by an 8-year / 180,000 km warranty.

Early customers to be compensated, somewhat
If you are wondering if the new lower prices have left customers who bought the Ora Good Cat earlier feeling shortchanged, GWM Malaysia is offering the following benefits to existing customers:
- Vehicle warranty extension - additional 2 years, totaling 7-year / 150,000 km
- 5 years / 75,000 km free maintenance (parts and labour included), starting from last service
Price war with BYD
The Ora Good Cat is imported from China. The SUV-like hatchback is positioned closer to the BYD Atto 3 than the BYD Dolphin.
Sime Darby Beyond Auto is currently offering RM 20,000 discount on the 2023 manufacturing year BYD Atto 3 (all variants), bringing prices down to RM 130,430 and RM 148,430 for the Standard Range and Extended variants respectively (on-the-road excluding insurance).
The new 2024 BYD Atto 3, with a larger 15.6-inch infotainment screen has yet to be announced for Malaysia but if prices in Thailand are a reliable indication, it will be lower than before. BYD Thailand has slashed prices of the 2024 BYD Atto 3 by 18 percent.
