The tease is nearly over as BYD’s Malaysian distributor Sime Darby Beyond Auto has opened pre-booking orders for the highly anticipated BYD Seal on its website.
Three variants are revealed on the website with the only ringgit-led figure being the RM 1,000 booking fee. Prices for BYD’s Tesla Model 3 fighter will only be revealed much later during its official launch which is slated around February, according to dealers.
While prices are not revealed, performance figures for all 3 variants are so here’s a brief breakdown of the variants heading to Malaysia:
- Dynamic – Rear-wheel drive, 61.4 kWh, 204 PS/310 Nm, 510 km (NEDC)
- Premium – Rear-wheel drive, 82.5 kWh, 313 PS/360 Nm, 650 km (NEDC)
- Performance – All-wheel drive, 82.5 kWh, 530 PS/670 Nm, 580 km (NEDC)
Comparatively, the Chinese-built (CBU) Tesla Model 3 is priced from RM 189,000 to RM 218,000 but the BYD Seal won’t be the only upcoming rival that is heading to Malaysia. There is also the Ora 07 which was teased yesterday.
