As the Smart #1 inches to its Q4 2023 launch in Malaysia, bookings for the model are now open on the brand's official app, Hello Smart.

The model can be booked via a refundable RM 1,000 deposit through the app, and can be paid via credit or debit card. The app is available for Android, Apple, and Huawei phones.

More importantly, the app sheds light on the available specifications for our country – two variants are highlighted; the Premium, and the souped-up Brabus.

The Premium variant is juiced by a 66 kWh NMC battery, sending drive through to a 272 PS/343 Nm rear-mounted (RWD) single electric motor. Range is quoted at 440 km per the WLTP test cycle.

Basic specs shared include the car's signature illuminated front grille, and matrix LED headlamps. Seven exterior colours are available, but the cabin is limited to just one simple black-and-white colourway called Dark Matter.

It also gets Beats audio (with 13 speakers), Qi wireless charging, 12.8-inch floating infotainment, and a head-up display. The seats are electronically adjustable, come with ventilation, and there's an electric glass roof too.

And then we get to the Brabus – this one is proud of its 0-100 km/h in 3.9 second time, which comes courtesy of its 428 PS/543 Nm twin electric motors (all-wheel drive). Its battery is still the 66 kWh Li-Ion type, but range is slightly shorter at 400 km according to the WLTP.

It also gets 7 body colours, with a unique Brabus cabin that features red accents.

The rest of the app also bids well for initial impressions; with a smooth-scrolling, easy-to-read interface, there's details like dealer info, emergency contact, and more conveniently, a charger map that has pricing built into it.
