Lexus Malaysia has discontinued the Lexus UX, currently the brand’s entry point. Checks with a Lexus dealer also revealed that there is no more stock of UX. The Lexus UX was first launched in Malaysia in February 2020. Until today, it remains the most comfortable compact luxury SUV we’ve driven. It’s also more engaging to drive than an equivalent Mercedes-Benz GLA or BMW X1. Unfortunately, buyers cannot overlook the fact that the Lexus UX is powered by a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated engine, unl

If you have the hots for a compact, electric SUV that's not the Mercedes-Benz EQA, then this you'd do well to wait for this 2023 Lexus UX 300e that's earmarked for Malaysia sometime this year. We caught a glimpse of it at the ongoing 44th Bangkok International Motor Show (BIMS 2023) and think it's one to wait for. Malaysian specifications may differ, but the kit it has is pretty rich – there's tri-LED headlights, a must-have lightbar at the back, and Lexus Safety System Plus set of advanced driv

Part two of our three-parter on SUVs coming to Malaysia in 2023 revolves around electric vehicles (EVs). Last week we talked about regular, pure-ICE models, and if that's more your swing here's the link. Plug in your chargers, we're going in... BMW iX1 The missing link in BMW's i electrified range in Malaysia, the iX1 made its global debut alongside the all-new BMW X1 in June this year. Considering the BMW electric range is pretty complete here, expecting it to be sold on our shores isn't too fa

The Lexus UX compact SUV has received some minor updates across its line-up, things which Malaysian customers can expect to receive (by virtue of it being fully imported from Japan) after the upgraded car makes its global debut in the second half of 2022. At the point of writing full specifications and pricing are still yet to be confirmed for our market, but the suite of upgrades for the UX range encapsulates safety, technology, and performance updates below a slightly enhanced exterior. 2022 is here and it will be an interesting year, as multiple car companies have lined out their plans for a host of electric vehicle (EV) launches in Malaysia. As announced during the 2022 Budget, sales of electric vehicles will be exempted from both import and excise tax. The tax-free period is only for a very short time, specifically 2 years, between 1-January 2022 and 31-December 2023 for fully imported (CBU) models. Charge up and strap in. Now this is a big surprise - UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) will be launching two EV models in Malaysia starting 2022, and by EV, we mean battery electric vehicle (BEV) type. This has been confirmed by reliable sources familiar with the matter. UMWT’s first EV model will be launched in 2022, while another model will follow in 2023. No further details were shared but Toyota / Lexus don’t have a lot of EV models on sale so it’s not difficult to guess the potential candidates for Malaysia. The most obviou

If you have RM 250k or thereabouts for a premium SUV, frankly you'd be spoiled for choice, Mercedes-Benz GLA and BMW X1 being the most obvious candidates. But how about a Japanese face-off for today? We're talking about the Toyota Harrier and Lexus UX. Yes they are cars from different segments but in terms of price, they are perilously close to each other. For this comparison, we pit the Toyota Harrier 2.0 Luxury (one variant only, RM 249,706) against the Lexus UX Urban (RM 243,888) as they are
