Here's the 2024 Mercedes-Benz C350e plug-in hybrid (PHEV) that's just been launched in Malaysia. Locally-assembled (CKD) in Pekan, Pahang, here's three main things you should know: estimated prices begin from RM 355,000, deliveries begin in March 2024, and it replaces the C300 AMG Line.

The C-Class price range for Malaysia is now as follows:

• C200 Avantgarde - RM 292,888
• C300 AMG Line - RM 333,888
• C350e AMG Line - est. RM 355,000

By virtue of being a plug-in hybrid (PHEV), naturally this is also more powerful than the model it replaces. Under the hood is a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine that makes 204 PS / 320 Nm, which is then paired with a 129 PS / 440 Nm electric motor to yield a total system output of 313 PS and 550 Nm.

Drive is sent to the rear-wheels (RWD) through a 9-speed automatic transmission.

The all-electric driving portion of the powertrain draws from the 25.4 kWh battery that offers a pure EV range of up to 117 km (WLTP), up to 140 km/h. Top speed is a claimed 245 km/h.

Charging the C350e's battery is via 11 kW AC charging, which takes about two hours to full from a three-phase wallbox.

50 kW DC fast charging is not offered at the moment, based on projected usage of the car (mostly urban miles), but Mercedes-Benz Malaysia will continue to observe market conditions.

Exterior wise, it wears the more aggressive AMG Line outfit with 18-inch AMG 5 twin-spoke wheels and Night Package (black strips and details). It gets Digital Light headlamps with Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus function, which is able to individually control the LEDs to match the road situation.

Unique to the C350e is also passive adaptive self-levelling rear air suspension, which should aid in comfort and handling chops.

This also includes Artico leather upholstery inside, a multi-function sports steering wheel in Nappa leather, a 12.3-inch instrument display complemented by a 11.9-inch infotainment screen. There's also a panoramic sliding sunroof.

Creature comforts include Android Auto/Apple CarPlay connectivity, wireless smartphone charging, and Mercedes Me connected services.

Other cabin highlights include sport seats, fingerprint scanner, front wireless charging, ambient lighting and smartphone integration package. With safety in mind, the new C-Class features 360° camera, Blind Spot Assist, Active Brake Assist, and Guard 360° Vehicle protection.

On the passive safety front, the car is equipped with a comprehensive set of features, including five three-point seatbelts, front and side airbags, side curtain airbags, and a driver's knee airbag.

Warranty package is the standard 4-year, unlimited mileage warranty. The battery is covered by a 6-year, 100,000 km warranty.

Following this launch, Mercedes-Benz will have the C350e alongside the rest their line-up available for public viewing and test drives at Plaza Arkadia, Desa Park City, Kuala Lumpur from 23- to 25-February 2024.
