Though the car itself is very much hidden in secrecy, news about the model isn't exactly what one might term a secret - last August, we broke news that the C350e is set to join the local ranks. Information ascertained from dealers then pinned it to replace the C300.
As at point of publication however, both the C200 and C300 are still available for purchase, priced from RM 292,888 and RM 333,888 respectively.
Specs of the C350e in Malaysia
Specs for it are not out yet, though we can learn something from the model sold in Thailand. In the land all the way north, the C350e is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that makes 204 PS/320 Nm on its own. An electric motor boosts total output to 313 PS/550 Nm, sent to the rear wheels via a 9-speed automatic transmission.
It gets a 25.4-kWh battery that is claimed to achieve up to 100 km of pure electric driving range (WLTP), reaching speeds of up to 140 km/h. Unlike typical PHEVs, the C350e accepts DC fast charging (via CCS Combo 2 connector) at a maximum rate of 50 kW, while AC charging is rated at 11 kW.
More of the Malaysian-spec C350e will be shared in due time; which shouldn't be too far away now as the car will be shown at Plaza Arkadia in Desa Park City, Kuala Lumpur from 23- to 25-February 2024.
