Images of the upcoming Kia EV6 have been revealed ahead of its world premiere. The EV6 is Kia’s first dedicated battery-electric car, sharing the same E-GMP platform with the recently-introduced Hyundai Ioniq 5. 

Details on its powertrain and battery will be announced during its premiere, but Kia has taken this “reveal” opportunity to shift the focus on its new design philosophy – ‘Opposites United’.

‘Opposites United’ takes inspiration from the contrasts found in nature and humanity, and makes its debut on the EV6. The design philosophy will form the design of all future Kia models, and is based on five key design pillars:

• Bold for Nature
• Joy for Reason
• Power to Progress
• Technology for Life
• Tension for Serenity

On the outside, the daytime running lights of the EV6 form part of the car’s ‘Digital Tiger Face’, a design progression evoking the spirit of Kia’s ‘Tiger Nose Grille’ for the electrified era. The side profile displays a crossover-inspired design aesthetic, which is modern, sleek, and aerodynamic.

The EV6 is the result of a collaborative effort between all three studios in Kia’s global design network in Namyang, Frankfurt, and California.

On the inside, the EV6 is liberated by Kia’s dedicated E-GMP platform, which offers increased space compared to previous Kia EVs based on existing model architecture (Kia E-Niro, Kia E-Soul).

One of the most striking elements of the new interior is a seamless high-tech curved high-definition audio visual and navigation (AVN) screen.

The seats are slim, lightweight and contemporary, and clad in modern, visually interesting and robust fabrics created using recycled plastics, which create yet greater openness in the cabin.

Looks-wise, the EV6 is an interesting car with a body type rather similar to the Polestar 2. Sharing the same E-GMP platform with the Kia EV6 is the Hyundai Ioniq 5, which will be assembled in Singapore (RWD version).
