If James Bond traded his Aston Martin for a Lexus in 2030, this is what it looks like

Even though James Bond is always associated with Aston Martins, MI6’s finest agent has been driving all kinds of cars including BMWs, Lotuses, a Ford Mustang, and even a Toyota. But what if agent Bond followed Wakanda’s loving king in getting a Lexus?
This design is one of the entries challenged by UK’s Autocar on the postgraduate students of Coventry University’s renowned automotive and transport design course. The challenge is to envision what a Bond car might look like in 10 years’ time.
Called the Lexus SF (Superfast), this futuristic Lexus supercar is designed by Francis John and he imagines it to be all-electric and produces 1,200 PS. Power would come from a rapid charging solid state battery, enough for a range of 600 miles (970 km) so 007 won’t have to worry on range anxiety.
Of course, being a Bond car, the Lexus supercar will be equipped with some gadgets to leave the villains in the dust. These include a pair of laser-guided gatling guns in the front and some pneumatic air canisters which can be released in the rear.
These golf ball-sized air canisters can be expanded several times its original size, creating an instant roadblock or exploding underneath pursuing baddies to yeet them away.
Francis John is clearly inspired by the Lexus LC 500 and the LF-LC Concept which the SF is influenced by in terms of design. John’s favourite Bond car is the Toyota 2000GT from You Only Live Twice and that Japanese connection is why he chose Lexus.
There are elements to various Lexus designs and concepts all over the SF. Lexus’ iconic front spindle grille for instance is given a ‘floating’ design to keep it recognisable even if it’s an electric car. Elsewhere, the headlights are inspired by the UX Concept while the rear LEDs are influenced by the LC.
Though this is merely a design study, it is interesting to imagine what Bond’s car will look like if he decided to get a Lexus instead. If Black Panther can drive a Lexus, so could Agent Bond.
