The 2021 Honda City has once again topped Indian sales in September, outselling its immediate rivals by a wide margin.
According to GaadiWaadi.com, the 3,348 units of the Honda City were delivered in September, far outpacing immediate rivals such as the Suzuki Ciaz (981 units), Hyundai Verna (879 units) and Skoda Rapid (473 units).
The City even outsold its cheaper sibling, the Honda Amaze which managed 2,063 units in September.
For the Indian market, the all-new Honda City is priced from INR 10.90 lakh (~RM 61,840) for the base City V MT variant, topping out at INR 14.56 lakh (~RM 83,115) for the range-topping City ZX MT variant.
The City’s consistent and strong sales performance is made more significant since the sedan segment has largely been in decline in India given the rising popularity of small SUVs such as the Tata Nexon, Honda WR-V and Suzuki Vitara Brezza.
Separately, Toyota India has axed the Toyota Yaris sedan (Vios to us) in India on the back of slow sales.
HT Auto reports sales of the Yaris sedan have been lacklustre since its introduction in 2018, failing to capture the hearts and minds of Indian buyers due to a limited variant list and lack of highlight features.
Arvind can't remember a time when he didn't wheel around a HotWheels car. This love evolved into an interest in Tamiya and RC cars and finally the real deal 1:1 scale stuff. Passion finally lead to formal training in Mechanical Engineering. Instead of the bigger picture, he obsesses with the final drive ratio and spring rates of cars and spends the weekends wondering why a Perodua Myvi is so fast.
