Great Wall Motors Thailand (GWM Thailand) has debuted the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version of the Haval H6 at the ongoing 2021 Thai Motor Expo. Our sister site Autofun Thailand is on the ground covering the event.
Yes, Thailand will be the first market to receive the Haval H6 PHEV, way before its home market, China, receives the model.
According to GWM Thailand, the H6 PHEV gets a similar turbocharged 1.5-litre petrol engine as the hybrid variant, but with even more power. In the case of the soon-to-be launched H6 PHEV, the combined system output is 330 PS and 530 Nm, almost 100 PS more than the H6 Hybrid (243 PS, 530 Nm).
Powertrain aside, separating the H6 PHEV and its hybrid sibling is the revamped front fascia. The former gets an instantly recognizable front-end with a massive grille that stretches from end-to-end, replete with diamond pattern embedded inside.
Other than its Joker-like front fascia, the rest of the H6 PHEV looks identical to the regular hybrid variant, down to its 19-inch wheels and rear bumper design.
More details surrounding the Haval H6 PHEV will be made known upon the model’s launch next year, so stay tuned for that.
What about Malaysia?
GWM Thailand has mentioned that the models manufactured at its Rayong plant will eventually be exported within the ASEAN region, Malaysia included. The model will also be offered in Indonesia and Australia.
However, there is the question of GWM's distributor in Malaysia. It remains to be seen if Go Auto will continue to represent the brand here, seeing that they have been rather quiet lately and has since disbanded their public relations team.
