There's a new name for it, but the recipe is familiar: this is the all-new 2023Subaru Crosstrek (as it will be named globally now, it was known as the XV prior) that's just been launched in Indonesia. Sold in the sole 2.0 i-S EyeSight variant, prices for it start at IDR 549.5 million, roughly equivalent to RM 160,575.
That's a circa 10% price hike, but that's also because, well, it's all-new. On the outside the kit is rich; LED headlights, LED fog lights, LED combination rear lights, and 18-inch alloy wheels make up the complement.
Sitting centrestage in the all-black interior is an 11.6-inch portrait infotainment screen, and the rest of the interior benefits from quite the niceties too: 10-way power-adjustable seat for the driver, a sunroof, dual-zone air-conditioning, 60:40 split-folding rear seats, and your usual smattering of USB ports.
Built upon the Subaru Global Platform (SGP), the third-gen Crosstrek has the famed Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive (AWD) drivetrain, and paired to that is the dual-function X-Mode system.
The engine and transmission combo is the familiar 2.0-litre FB20 'Boxer' cylinder mill, good for 156 PS and 196 Nm. Mated to the naturally-aspirated engine is the Lineartronic CVT automatic, with 8 virtual ratios.
EyeSight ADAS is standard, and it comes with:
Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
Lane Centring Control and Preceding Vehicle Adaptive Steering Control (LCC)
Pre-collision braking (PCB, or AEB)
Autonomous emergency steering (AEB)
Lane departure prevention (LDP)
Pre-collision throttle management (PCTM)
Lead vehicle start alert (LVSA)
Other standard safety features include 8 airbags, reverse AEB, and high beam assist.
In Malaysia, there's nary a peep of the all-new model making it here just yet, so TC Subaru continues to sell the second-gen XV. Prices for that range from RM 139,788 for the XV 2.0 i-P EyeSight, to RM 146,788 for the kitted-up XV 2.0 i-P EyeSight GT Edition.
