Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has released a teaser on its Facebook page for the all-new (W223) 2021 Mercedes-Benz S-Class.
The W223 Mercedes-Benz S-Class made its global debut back in September last year with a host of new tech and features.
To start with, the E-Active Body Control active suspension system adjusts the damping accordingly in reducing discomfort over bumps with the help of the stereo camera monitoring the road ahead.
The all-new W223 Mercedes-Benz S-Class is the first production car to offer rear passenger airbags. The rear airbags use a tubular design that reduces impact forces on the head and spine by 30 percent.
There’s also rear-axle steering, a system that virtually 'increases' or 'decreases' your wheelbase by switching from counter-direction to same-direction steering at more than 60 km/h. This improves low-speed manoeuvrability and high-speed stability.
The W223 S-Class features Digital Lights which act in a similar fashion to video projectors with functions like projecting warning symbols on the road or customisable light shows. Since this feature was shown in the teaser video, it’s reasonable to assume that we’ll be getting it.
Inside, taking centre stage in the front is the 12.8-inch vertical touchscreen which features an updated MBUX.
The updated MBUX system includes biometric authentication, multi-seat connectivity user experience, personalised media for passengers and augmented reality (AR) technology. Over time, it will receive over-the-air (OTA) updates.
However, local specifications have yet to be revealed and some of the features mentioned may not be available here.
While there are petrol, diesel, and plug-in hybrid variants available overseas, Malaysian units may only be limited to the S450 4MATIC and S580e variants as seen in the outgoing W222 S-Class. Both are powered by a 3.0-litre turbocharged M256 inline-6 with an additional electric motor for the latter.
Right now, we’ll have to wait for the official launch for the confirmed prices and specifications for the W223 Mercedes-Benz S-Class in Malaysia. Stay tuned to WapCar.my.
