Chery Malaysia has just announced that the all-electric (EV) Chery Omoda E5 has arrived at Port Klang, hinting at the arrival of Cheryβs first EV model in the country.
In a press release, the Chinese carmaker acknowledged the accelerated growth of EVs in the Southeast Asian region, particularly Malaysia. It cited the national target for EVs to comprise 15% of total industry volume (TIV) by 2030.

Chery claims the Omoda E5 has an ultra-low energy consumption of 15 kWh/100 km, an impressive range of 450 km, and takes only 30 minutes to charge its batteries from 20-80% via DC fast charging.
Besides, the Omoda E5 is also equipped with a new generation Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) that includes 16 functions such as blind-spot monitoring, reverse warning, and automatic emergency braking (AEB) that recognises pedestrians and cyclists.
Characterised by the crossover design, the Omoda E5 adopts the CROSS exterior styling design with a futuristic front face. Its interior design incorporates future technological elements like a gear shift design that is simple but also high-tech.
