Here we have a Ferrari 812 Superfast prowling the streets of London. At a traffic light junction, the driver appears to switch off his traction and stability control systems. In a car that has 789 PS. What could possibly go wrong?
Said driver then proceeds to turn left, bury his throttle and enjoy the musical symphony of his 6.5-litre V12. All this while there are cyclists and pedestrians on both sides of the road. A moment later, the 812 snaps sideways and crashes into the guardrail, almost taking a cyclist along.
Now, just like the Nissan GT-R vs Proton Wira incident, there could be many factors that caused this. Road surface, tyre condition and also most importantly, driver skill. You don't just mash the throttle on a 789 PS supercar. Throttle control is important in such a powerful car.
Moreover, the driver's steering correction isn't early nor fast enough. To hazard a guess, the driver's line of vision is also wrong, not looking far enough ahead at where he/she is heading. While mistakes happens to even the best, this incident all point to a driver who doesn't know what he/she was doing.
Remember, having a supercar does not automatically make you God's gift to drivers. If you own a supercar, or a powerful car, I highly recommend advanced driving courses to develop your car control, in a controlled environment.
This could have ended so much worse than just crashing a precious Ferrari 812, seeing the number of cyclists and pedestrians that were around at the time. As for the 812 driver..... well, at least he'll be comforted by the fact that the airbags in his Ferrari worked. Scant consolation, I know.
