GAC Aion Y Plus sees equivalent of RM 6k price cut across model range in China 01

GAC Aion announced that the Aion Y Plus line-up receives a CNY 10,000 (~RM 6,600) price cut in China. The electric crossover is available in 14 variants with prices ranging between CNY 99,800 to CNY 189,800 (~RM 66k-126k) after the price cut.

The highest-spec Aion Y Plus which has a claimed 610-km range (CLTC) now starts from CNY 133,800 (~RM 88.5k) and is juiced up by a 69.8-kWh ternary lithium battery. The front-mounted electric motor makes 204 PS and 225 Nm.

However, the unit that was previewed in Malaysia has a few different specifications from the ones that are offered in China. Based on the information presented in its preview, the Malaysia-bound Aion Y Plus has a 63.2-kWh lithium-ion phosphate (LFP) battery with a maximum range of up to 430 km (WLTP). The front-mounted motor produces the same output figures as the Chinese equivalent.

Even though the Aion Y Plus looks like a minivan, it has only two rows of seats. It is underpinned by GACโ€™s Aion Electric Platform (AEP 2.0) which is a dedicated battery electric vehicle (BEV) platform with a long wheelbase and a spacious flat floor for rear passengers.

GAC Aion will be distributed in Malaysia by WTCA, a subsidiary of Warisan TC Holdings Berhad under the Tan Chong Group. The brand is expected to make its launch here within the first half of 2024.
