![HR-V size at WR-V prices - Chery Tiggo 5X launched in Indonesia, from equivalent of RM 82k 01]()
At the ongoing Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) 2024, PT Chery Sales Indonesia (CSI) officially launched the Chery Tiggo 5X in the archipelago. The compact crossover is also called the Tiggo 4 Pro in some international markets like Mexico, the Middle East, and South Africa.

The Tiggo 5X is available in Indonesia in two variants - Classic which is priced at IDR 269 million (~RM 82k) and Champion which is priced at IDR 299 million (~RM 91k). Though the Tiggo 5X shares dimensions with B-segment SUVs like the Honda HR-V and the Proton X50, Chery has priced its latest SUV closely against the smaller Honda WR-V and the Toyota Raize.

For comparison, the base WR-V starts from IDR 275 million (~RM 84k) while the Toyota Raize is priced from IDR 235 million (~RM 72k).

While Chery showcased a turbocharged Tiggo 5X (154 PS/230 Nm) at its booth in IIMS 2024, the Indo-bound SUV will be powered by a naturally aspirated 1.5-litre (112 PS/138 Nm) mill across both variants. The unit is paired with a CVT that drives the front wheels.

Further details on specifications and features for the Indo-spec Tiggo 5X will be announced later but it boasts the largest interior space in its price range while features like a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment screen, ambient lighting, and leather upholstery were mentioned at the price announcement.

Safety features that were also announced include 6 airbags, ADAS, and a 360-degree camera. Deliveries commence in March and it could be locally produced (CKD) in Bekasi alongside the rest of Chery Indonesia’s lineup like the Tiggo 7 Pro, Tiggo 8 Pro, Omoda 5, and the Omoda E5.

The Tiggo 5X was previewed in Malaysia to the media when Chery announced its return to the market a couple of years ago. The unit shown was called the Tiggo 4 Pro and was powered by a turbocharged 1.5-litre engine.
Earlier this year at Chery Malaysia’s business briefing, it was teased in a presentation slide that the compact SUV could be launched here soon. Due to Malaysia’s superstition on the number 4, perhaps it could follow Indonesia and the Philippines with the model being called the Tiggo 5X instead.
