JKR lists 11 ways to make a complaint on potholes after Khairy chides them for favouritism

The pothole saga continues with as Minister Khairy Jamaluddin (KJ) has chided the Public Works Department (JKR) for only paying attention to potholes only because a minister was affected. Following which, JKR also listed down 11 ways the public can make a road condition complaint to the department.
This incident follows an accident where the Science, Technology, and Innovation Minister landed in a ditch after hitting a pothole at Kampung Seri Cheeding in Banting, Selangor on 27 December 2020.
JKR Kuala Langat had immediately apologised to KJ on the same day, the pothole was reportedly fixed the next day.
This has led to many criticisms from social media users that JKR had only responded so quickly as a minister was involved in this accident.
When speaking to Berita Harian, KJ admitted that though he had initially brushed off the injuries he said he still could not remember what happened during the incident as he had suffered from temporary memory loss likely due to his fall from his bicycle.
He also added that his intention of uploading the post to Twitter was to remind his followers to be safe. He did not expect the post to catch JKR’s attention.

While KJ thanked JKR for the swift action, he also chided the department reminding them not to only pay attention just because a minister is involved.
KJ said that he understands that there are incidents that resulted in deaths and called for the department to find out the cause of potholes including identifying the quality aspects. He emphasised that a pothole should be fixed as soon as possible.
In the same report, KJ also revealed that he has discussed with Works Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof about setting up a special online portal for complaints on potholes nationwide highlighting that there is a need for real-time monitoring of road conditions.
