As MINI closes in on its future of electrification, the brand is moving to sync its in-car user interface to also prepare its model line up for the digital age. Therefore, MINI car has recently introduced a brand new operating system that boasts instant connectivity and an array of new innovative integrations.

Central to this is a redesigned center instrument panel for the MINI 3-door, 5-door and Convertible models that now come standard with a 8.8-inch touch display, finished in piano-black trim. In typical MINI fashion, the screen background, together with the multi-colour LED ring can correspond with user actions, such as climate control and driving modes.

Further connectivity is showcased through the introduction of Live Widgets and Amazon Alexa integration (availability depending on region). The widgets bring a smartphone-like user interface (which encompasses media, communication, navigation, and vehicle settings), while Amazon Alexa pairs seamless voice control to the car, so long as it is paired to the MINI App.

Supplementing this is the 5.0-inch multifunction display on the driver's side, as part of the Connected Media option. This serves to convey all the relevant driving information and to display the charging status of electric models.

The new 8.8-inch central screen is a global feature, so this will definitely make it to Malaysian models in the near future. In recognition of just how integral smartphones are to users in this age, MINI has designed this latest generation of user interface with that in mind.
