Porsche has announced its plans to integrate Google services into its future vehicle generations, with production set to commence in the mid-2020s.

This collaboration will incorporate a range of Google offerings, including Google Maps, Google Assistant, and a multitude of applications available through the Google Play Store, enhancing the digital experience for Porsche customers.

This development follows an earlier report published by German publication Manager Magazin, as covered by Automotive News Europe, suggested Porsche's hesitance to collaborate with Google due to concerns about data sharing. However, it seems that Porsche has now opted to embrace Googles' offerings.

Lutz Meschke, Porsche's Chief Financial Officer, revealed that the company was actively engaged in discussions with tech giants such as Google and Apple. Not only that, Porsche was exploring potential partnerships with Chinese tech giants Baidu, Tencent, and Alibaba.

In a separate statement, Cariad highlighted its role as the backbone for these systems, with the capacity to integrate various technologies from different partners, depending on regional requirements. Volkswagen's software unit, Cariad, will continue to serve as the foundation for the information and entertainment systems in Porsche vehicles.

Oliver Blume, Chairman of the Executive Board of Porsche AG, said, "Our customers fulfill a dream with our vehicles. In addition to timeless design and exceptional performance, they also want a seamless digital experience.

“This blended ecosystem results from the integration of platforms and apps that customers know from their end devices. We have an open approach and are developing innovations with leading technology partners."

Hiroshi Lockheimer, Senior Vice President of Platforms and Ecosystems at Google, said, "We're excited to partner with Porsche on their goal to bring innovative and helpful in-vehicle experiences to their customers. With an infotainment experience built on Android, drivers will be able to access the latest Google technologies and services in tandem with the best of Porsche design and branding."
