Eats a Tesla for breakfast: 1,100 PS 2024 Porsche Taycan Turbo GT unveiled as the fastest sedan on Nürburgring ever, among other superlatives

You're looking at the fastest four-door car on the Nürburgring – period. This here is the 2024 Porsche Taycan Turbo GT, the most powerful production model in the carmaker's 94-year history.
At the United States' Laguna Seca Raceway, it clocks 1:27.87 minutes, the fastest any roadgoing battery electric vehicle (BEV) has ever been there. At the 'Ring, its 7:07.55 minute time demolishes the Taycan Turbo S' time by 26 seconds, and promotes it as the fastest BEV there, besides being the quickest-ever sedan there of any powertrain type.
How does it compare to a Tesla? A Model S Plaid did the Laguna Seca in 1:28.213 before, and 7:25.23 at the Nürburgring.
Add power, then add lightness
The Turbo GT is the apex of the Taycan battery electric vehicle (BEV) range, enhancing the powertrain with a new rear-axle motor and more powerful 900 ampere pulse inverter. Both cars have 788 PS at base, increasing to 1,033 PS with Launch Control, or up to 1,100 PS with a two-second overboost. Maximum torque is up to 1,340 Nm.
Fixed aero saves weight over active aero
0-100 km/h is just 2.3 seconds for the standard Taycan Turbo GT, and the optional Weissach package that throws out the rear seats and employs fixed aerodynamics for a 70 kg weight loss, cuts this to 2.2 seconds. 0-200 km/h is done in 6.6 seconds (6.4 seconds for the Weissach package), which is 1.3 seconds faster than the Taycan Turbo S.
Equipped with the Weissach package, the Taycan Turbo GT's top speed is 306 km/h, slightly more than the 'standard' Taycan Turbo GT's 290 km/h.
Lightness is part of the game, so there's more liberal use of carbon fibre parts for the body panels, lightweight lugage compartment, and carbon-fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP) full bucket seats. Owners will also have to close the boot themselves now too – Porsche has taketh away the soft-closing function of the tailgate. Oh, the pains...
Swathes of Race-Tex upholstery decks the very serious, all black interior, though having equipment decked in Volt Blue or GT Silver is also possible. Sport Chrono comes standard on the Taycan Turbo GT, but stripped out in the Weissach package (no carpets, no electric charging door too).
Dynamism comes courtesy of Porsche Active Ride suspension with GT-specific tuning, performance tyres, and 21-inch lightweight forged wheels that have relief-milled spokes that saves weight and ventilates the lightweight carbon ceramic brakes.
The Porsche Taycan Turbo GT is then unsurprisingly, the priciest of the range. Prices in its home market of Germany start from EUR 240,000 (~RM 1.2 million) before options, eclipsing the EURO 209,000 (RM 1.06 million) of the Taycan Turbo S.
