Now RM 19k more expensive! Kia EV6 is latest to succumb to inflationary pressure 01

Kia dealers have notified customers that prices of the 2023 Kia EV6 is now RM 19k more expensive, starting from RM 319,668 for the sole all-wheel drive GT-Line variant in Malaysia.

The imported (CBU, from Korea) Kia EV6 GT-Line was first launched in Malaysia in July 2022, at the price of RM 300,668.

There is no change in specifications. The 5-seater electric SUV is still powered by a 77.4 kWh battery, making 325 PS / 605 Nm, with a 506 km range (WLTP).

Like its sister-car the Hyundai Ioniq 5, the Kia Connect feature does not cover Malaysia so users can’t do over-the-air (OTA) software updates but the Kia EV6 is otherwise par with its rivals.

Prices of the locally assembled (CKD) Kia Sorento (starting from RM 211,498) and Kia Carnival (starting from RM 199,840) are still holding, at least for now.

Kia distributor Dinamikjaya Motors, a subsidiary of Bermaz Auto, cautioned that further price hikes for its other models are to be expected, as the situation with rising cost (energy and raw materials) in the automotive sector’s supply chain is quite severe.

Speaking at this morning’s launch of the Kia Niro EV, Bermaz Auto’s Executive Chairman Dato Sri’ Ben Yeoh said, “Yes (price hikes for other models), but it's mainly due to supply chain and less about our currency. It's affecting everyone in the industry as well, not just us.”

Just this week alone, Mitsubishi, Honda, and Toyota have announced price hikes for many of their best-selling models.
