Slotting above the Ora Good Cat, GWM Malaysia has given the local media a preview of the Ora 07. The fully electric 4-door coupe-style sedan bears a resemblance to the Porsche Panamera but it still looks cutesy by comparison.

GWM Malaysia had announced that the Ora 07 is open for bookings on 1 March with two variants confirmed:

• Long Range – FWD, 204 PS/340 Nm, 640 km range
• Performance – AWD, 408 PS/680 Nm, 550 km range

Like the Good Cat, the Ora 07 (also known as the Lightning Cat/Grand Cat) is fully imported (CBU) from China and sits on GWM’s Lemon-E platform. Both variants are juiced up by an 83.5-kWh battery while the units previewed appeared to be the FWD Long Range variant.

The Ora 07 shares similar dimensions to the Toyota Camry and the BYD Seal, the latter was launched in Malaysia last month. Prices have not been announced but GWM Malaysia is planning to launch the 07 around this month.

The mix of retro and Porsche gives the Ora 07 a slippery design with a drag coefficient of 0.22 Cd. This is also thanks to the hidden door handles and an adaptive electric spoiler.

While the exterior has a similar charming presence as the Good Cat, the interior is easier to operate with physical knobs to control the air conditioning and a Mercedes-Benz-like gear selector stalk instead of the rotary type.

Features available on the Malaysian-spec Ora 07 include massaging front seats (driver and passenger), a dome-style panoramic sunroof, an 11-speaker Infinity audio system, and a smart air conditioning system that delivers a three-dimensional flow.

The Ora 07 has safety features aided by advanced sensors and surround cameras which include intelligent ACC with stop-and-go, GWM’s Wisdom Dodge System (WDS), and self-parking features.

Three colours for the Ora 07 in Malaysia are sophisticated grey, purple, and white.

GWM Malaysia also announced at the Ora 07’s preview that it plans to launch the Haval H6 HEV in Q2 2024 while the Tank 300 would be released in Q3 2024.
