One of the few markets where Perodua is being exported is Brunei and its distributor has recently teased the imminent arrivals of the Perodua Axia and Perodua Alza on social media.
Perodua is distributed in the small oil-rich kingdom by GHK Motors which also distributes Mitsubishi, Jeep, Alfa Romeo, MG, and Maxus. In Brunei, only the Perodua Bezza is being offered with the single 1.0 G Auto variant priced at BND 19,000 (~RM 67k).
It is still unknown which variant will be offered in Brunei but based on past models, it wonโt likely be the higher variants. The previous generation Alza was only offered with a single SE variant in the country so the top-of-the-line AV variant isnโt likely to make it to Brunei.
At least the ASA 3.0 ADAS will be offered for the Brunei-spec Alza as it is standard on all Malaysian variants. Just like here in Malaysia, the Brunei-spec Alza will be powered by a naturally aspirated 1.5-litre 2NR-VE engine (106 PS/138 Nm) that is mated to a D-CVT automatic gearbox.
The Bruneian Axia however could miss out on ADAS which is only offered here with the AV variant. Nevertheless, it will share the same NA 1.0-litre 1KR-VE 3-pot unit (68 PS/91 Nm) paired with a D-CVT automatic transmission.
Prices and variants for the Brunei-spec pair of Peroduas will be announced later but we can perhaps glean from its Toyota twins. The Toyota Veloz is priced at BND 38,747 (~RM 137k) while the Toyota Wigo is priced at BND 23,955 (~RM 84k) so based on these, their Perodua equivalents could be cheaper.
The Perodua Axia could even be the cheapest new car in Brunei with the current holder belonging to the Proton Saga which starts at BND 17,454 (~RM 62k).
