Yes, you read that right, a mere eight minutes was all it took to sell out all available units of the limited-production VW Golf R 333.
Sold exclusively in Germany, the VW Golf R 333 is billed as the ultimate version of the (Mk 8) VW Golf R, and the ‘333’ in its name signifies the total production run of just 333 units.

However, the Golf R 333 is more than some flashy paint and livery. For starters its 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine has also been fettled to produce, you guessed it 333 PS, 13 PS more than the standard Golf R. Torque is also increased by 20 Nm to 420 Nm.
This comes courtesy of specialised engine tuning, which also optimises turbo response, such that the turbocharger keeps spooling boost in partial-load or overrun conditions.
As a result, the Golf R 333 accelerates from 0-100 km/h in just 4.6 seconds (0.1 seconds faster than the regular Golf R) and will keep accelerating to an increased top speed of 270 km/h.
The Golf R 333 also includes an optimised Vehicle Dynamics Manager and R-Performance Torque Vectoring to further manage the additional pace and power, as well as the ‘Special’ and ‘Drift’ driving modes which were developed specifically for the Nürburgring racetrack, or if you’re in the mood for some sideways fun.

Alongside, the Golf R 333 also receives an Akrapovič R Performance exhaust system with titanium rear silencers and black 19-inch Estoril wheels with dynamic hub caps, wrapped in semi-slick tyres.
Aesthetically, the Golf R 333 features a range of colours including the highlight Lime Yellow Metallic black-painted roof and design decals with the 333 logo on the sides. This matches a serialised badge on the interior.
Costing EUR 76,410 (~RM 381k) the Golf R 333 will be produced at the VW’s Wolfsburg plant with deliveries slated in October.
Although we might never get the Golf R 333 here in Malaysia, officially anyway, the 'regular' 320 PS / 400 Nm VW Golf R remains on sale at RM 431k.
